Yes, I have tried my hands on S95, I must say its an amazing cam for that size which even delivers RAW images. If am not wrong Rudra always carries S90 with him. (S90 is a predecessor of S95.)

you can check the compatible lenses to D5100 on nikon website itself, i guess. choose one of those in your price range and requirements.

Not really Suess, a 35mm on a full frame body is more a normal rather than wide. Wides are < or =28mm focal length.

regarding, wide angle lens and all that i just missed the word "almost" before wide angle for FX. i think, anything below 35mm is wide for FX(being is 35mm film/sensor). 24mm and less is where ultra wide starts.

Absolutely, you would do well to buy only from an authorised dealer. Nikon's warranty is applicable only to products sold through authorised channels.

D5100 and D7000 are new and very popular. That explains the hard to get stock. Also, all Nikon lenses are F mounts, there is no adapter required.

No Suess, I don't earn money with that lens, I am not a pro. I had posted some test samples on the non auto image thread. It is pretty heavy and needs a tripod/monopod unless you are ok with aching arms after while.

As for some real super-duper exotics - I am aware of at least 1 person here who owns a 600mm telephoto prime.

Yes many people consider <35mm as wide, but I take 28mm. But then opinions and definitions vary. Choose your own theory. :)

I have gone through the pics on Noon-Auto Image forum, those really are good pics. impressive the sharpness and softness in foreground simply worth the money. but if it was tied you don't need 300mm! ;-)

How about Nikon FX Format? Do they directly fit Nikon D3100/D5100/D7000?
I was planing for Nikkor AF-S 50mm f1.8G prime lens (This is only available in FX Format) where as in DX Format AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G is available.

What is the exact difference between DX & FX. I am getting confused.

I think you are commenting on someone else's picture LOL! Myna image is mainly a tree branch, search through the leaves, you will find the poor Myna who got shocked and frozen looking at the 300mm :) Anyway it was a field test of aperture blade, zoom ring, VR feature and the power of biceps. We will wait to see the real picture anytime from now !

Since you are buying a DX camera I would suggest you go in for the 35mm 1.8G DX. The 50mm 1.8G is for FX (full frame) cameras. It will save you some money. Only buy a FX lens if you plan to upgrade to FX or buy a FX body (and use the DX camera as a backup body) in the future.

Is it worth the money? Well it depends who you ask, my spouse for one doesn't. She thinks I am mad. But I just love the lens (I call my copy 'Optimus Prime'). Can't call it a Rolls Royce coz it's bigger and even more expensive siblings, the 400mm F/2.8 and 600mm F/4, are fabulous. So let me say it's like having an Aston Martin in your garage. :D

Honestly, I wasnt expecting the same quality from their latest offering but the build quality of K-5 and 31mm has blown me away, especially the 31mm.
Its built like a tank with smooth precision movements. Attention to detail can be seen throughout - a simple example is this front metal lens cap which has some kind of plush green velvet fabric inside for smoother operation.

I always have had hunch for Pentax, in fact before purchasing my D300 I was all set for the K7 ..

BTW my boss did buy a K5 and I was blown away by the pic quality.Note that he is using the 250$ 50-200 and a 31mm f/1.8 lens

The 550D makes for a great camera. You can also consider the Nikon D5100 kit. I don't know about other brands, I will let others comment on it.

Are you looking only at Canon/Nikon stable?
