Jk, Hypermarket near the Infosys dual ships. Yes these are very hard plastics. The lid has a soft rubber edge which presses against the bottle's edge making it airtight.

If you need Silica gels, probably the best place to look for is your office's own IT department - they get lots of it when new PCs and other stuff arrive

Sweet! now with Nex series getting more and more capabilities, I guess their SLTs would see a decline in sales. That site says sensor itself has phase detection, but just like any other SLT, it has got a translucent mirror as well - I wonder what would be the need of the T-Mirror if the sensor itself has phase detection. May be they complement each other.. or may be the site is wrong.

Be sure to see the threads/texture/dust on his tee. That's how good the Leica can resolve. I am waiting to see Fuji/Oly to release a similar black and white sensor only camera. Ah, I wish.


BTW, so much for affordable Nikon D600. Looks like it'll be priced at around $2700 in Japan. Not sure of the price in US, though it'll be cheaper there I think.

And I can't wait for the D700 prices to fall. It's still such a capable camera, not that I'd buy it though. And, the sensor in A99/RX1 *might* not be present in D600. From what I have read on Steve Huff's preview of RX1, the sensor is present right now only on the RX1 and A99. Let's see how this pans out.

I am seeing that D700 is out from the sales in www.bhphotovideo.com in US. Don't if Nikon is planning to phase this out and position D600 as the entry level FX. I guess the price of D600 should be in the range of 1800-2600 USD as the D800 is available for 2999 USD.

@ USD 2100 for the body, given Nikon's pricing strategies seen earlier this year, this body should be available in India at around Rs 110K to 120K. It is at the sweet spot for a FX camera.

I assume it will perform just as well or nearly as well as its bigger and more expensive FX siblings.

So will there be a pro grade DX body? I honestly don't think there will be one introduced this year. It is quite obvious what Nikon is doing with their offerings - consumers @ DX, serious amateurs and pros @ FX, with FX getting the lion's share of attention this year.

Why go slow on DX? I think DX already has serious competition from mirrorless bodies including the Nikon 1 range. They clearly want advanced amateurs to move to FX now.

Nikon has really been working hard this year - 4 FX bodies (D4/D800/D800E/D600) and 1 DX (D3200). I am impressed. All this activity makes Canon look rather slow.

EDIT: Just checked the Nikon website, the D600 is 1.36L for the body ad 1.64L with a 24-85mm VR kit lens. It is bit more than the D700's MRP (Rs 1.3L) when it was introduced in India

Considering d600 pricing in UK, Indian prices are not bad at all. Guess will have to start saving now for this.

EDIT: @R2D2 - where did you get the indian price for D600 on the Nikon website? I just checked the indian website's D600 page but no mention of any price. Have they removed the pricing?

Hi R2D2,

Where did you find the price on the Nikon India website, I was searching for it, but didn't find it. I checked with the Dealer in Gurgaon and he is not yet aware of the details, but he is expecting some stock on the 18th/19th, and I have pre-booked mine.
Anyone else taking the plunge for the D600?
