A branded flash bouncer is sold from $20 upwards. If I get the material here, DIY will be around Rs.200. I dont mind making in bulk and getting rich overnight too
I tried to find the same some time back and finally used the white inside of one of those file holders that you can buy in any office supplies store, reinforced with another material glued at the back.

What I found was that it does not make all that much of a difference in diffusing the light and the apparent source size increase is not much to remove the harshness of light, so stopped using it.

I have checked the Bangalore Commercial Street crafts shops for the foam without success, so if you still want to chase the foam, try the Chikpeth/Mamulpeth area and if you strike it stinking rich, you know where to offload some of that moolah for safekeeping

Thanks for giving the heads up buddy. I was sure someone here would have searched it already. For me its not for diffusion but bouncing & directional use. I have 3 types of diffusers already (various sizes). Also flash has a built-in white card which I find too small for group shots. Having a very bad cold for many days, want to search in Chikpet area, I am sure to find something worth. Will let you know about the excess money part, right now I am leading a beggar life

The trick is not let any of the light from the flash to hit the subject directly and bounce it off walls/ceilings. Here's a good/cheap way of doing it:

Yes HW, I use this more nowadays then the other one, thanks

Pretty simple thing, cost probably of only a good rubber band, but makes a lot of difference to the capture!

Dear all,
I am intermediate laver photographer, I was playing with digital camera however it got damaged and now I have reason to buy a DSLR. My budget is 35k, I found good offer on amazon.com, i will deliver the camera at friend's location in USA and he will bring it here. So the offer is as below:

1. Canon 550D + 18-55mm = 30k
2. Canon 1100D + 18-55mm+ 55+250mm = 35 k

And the question which will be wise decision.

There is one more thought of waiting till 20th feb for president day for better offer and get 550D but still not sure

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Vishal

Get the 550D I'd say. The 1100D sensor is an older sensor as far as I know, from the 400 or 450D IIRC. The 55-250 itself is for 11k , so if you need the long focal range, you could buy it later though your total outflow will be 6k more.

Thank you friends, yes as @Ricci said 1100D is replacement for 450D. So its clear now I am going for 550D, I will try if I get good offer on 18-55 + 55-250 on occasion of president day otherwise 550D + 18-55mm will be enough to learn DSLR .

Thanks,
Vishal.

I wanted some reviews of the nikon P500. Obviously its not a DSLR But a DSLR look alike lol. But for someone as unprofessional as me who wants to learn, will it be a good choice?

Also specify some alternatives if you think they are better.

Also try to pick the 50mm f/1.8. A very handy and nifty lens.

Pick the P510. Yes it will be a good choice since this camera has manual mode. But only if you don't want to enter the DSLR world. For atleast a couple of years.

Hi Mustang

I can suggest you another excellent option to P500. Check out the Sony DSC-HX100V. It matches the Nikon P500. Canon SX40 IS, Fujifilm HSR20 in feature to feature. Secondly, the camera is comparitively fresh in the market. The cost on the Sony site is 22,900/-, but you can get it cheaper. Currently, the offer running on this is 4 GB SD card+Carry Case+HDMI cable. The video quality of this camera is just astounding.

FYI, I am going to pick this camera in the next week myself.

Cheers!
