Guys,

Today a couple or reps from reliance BB came to my home. They were offering 2mbps (i know that will be 'upto') @ 400/- per month with unlimited downloads over a fiber optic line (not wll).
they said its a limited offer and thats the reason for the low price.
Has anyone used this ?
currently im using internet from my cable wala and its nothing to write home about. 256 kbps unlimited dwnloads @ 600/-. (avg download speed is 28kbps), so the new offer 'seems' tempting.

Suggestions!!!

Nothing beats BSNL. Although, I admit that Reliance can. But, I'd advise against it. Reliance is infamous for cheating their customers with hidden charges, surcharges and sur-surcharges and what not.

By the way, the poll seems to be ill-formed. kbps means kilo bits per sec, which is 8 times what your file download box shows (1 byte is 8 bits). I guess this probably has been discussed in one of the earlier 12 pages, but I'm too lazy to read all those.

Yes I agree with amu1983, nothing beats BSNL, i have been using BSNL since more than 3 years, along with IPTV for last one year.

Here's my connection speed

Edit: Seems like the test is not accurate at all, see what I got after I tried again after posting the above result

maybe we should try dslreports.com

My present ISP is Reliance wireless " Broadband " offering on paper scheme of 150kbps ( and its broadband ).

Tried using BSNL Home500 scheme. Out of 30 days ( lets say ), two days it was perfect, 20 days, it wont work during the " free " time period of " 2:00 am to 8:00 am " and there after it will work slow.
8 days it wont work. Two blocks from us and they have the same scheme. Worked like a dream. Tata VSNL, less talked the better.

So I am using a very, very fast " broadband " 150 kbps. from Reliance. Reliability of Reliance is great. Its slow but consistent, something none have offered us till now.

Can you believe this, more upload speed than download. 700MB download is a pain with this speed. My download speed is less than 15-16 Kbps.

ISP : Hathway.

512kbps plan. But its a very moody connection. Gives excellent speeds at times, and crawls during others.
