i mod chipped my ps2 a long long time ago and now the lens is past its use. I got a new lens replaced and still sometimes the ps2 wont start. It goes into the browser. What to do?

if the lens is new, try aligning it.

Why do you want the fat one..but fat you mean not the slim one...well its really really difficult to find...ive got an old fat ps2 but it aint working...so if you want it in as is where is condition then you free to take it..
Should if possible get the fat one in under 4grand..but you might have to change the lens.

I have some gift cards worth Rs.4,000 at my disposal. I am planning to buy a PS2 by adding rest of the money from my pocket. The listed price on Sony India website is 8,000/-. I checked ebay and most sellers are quoting between 7,000 and 8,000. There may not much difference even with local grey market. I think ebay ones will have modded chips.

What are the advantages of having modded chip. I prefer buying original games though they are expensive. With a non-modded chip, can i play games bought in US in a console bought in India? I think i will not be able to play different region DVDs. Is having mod chip the only to unlock region lock? Any disadvantages of having a mod chip?

Amazon listed it at $130. My Mom is in US right now and will be returning by Sept 1st week. Is it worth getting it from US?

Experianced PS2 gamers, please post your suggestions.

I decided to buy PS2 with B&W. I am also planning to buy GT4 and latest NFS.
What is the best rallying game on PS2? Is Colin Mcrae Rally 2005 available for PS2?
Any good shooting games? Not much strategy but should have lots of fun like Max Payne and Duke Nukem.

the best rally game of all time is richard burns rally.
yes Colin McRae 5 is available for the ps2.
there are the wrc series 1-5, part 5 is called wrc-rally evolved get this and the second part they are just awesome

guys, try out forza, if its first version with xbox, then do try it out with Speedster fanatec wheel...heard that the new version is more realistic...i have not played GT, but all the reviews showed that it is far better than GT...

@Satish, good to know that you bought the PS2. But, since your mom is there in US now, you could have opted for PS3 which is far far better than PS2 and not too expensive compared to indian prices, its 20K right now in US whereas its 34K in India and there is no problem of region related issues in playing the games bought from US.

I am planning to get one in Oct/Nov. How is the experience with PS2?

PS2 is pretty cheap right now and there are some excellent games that you have on the PS2. PS3 prices will take sometime to drop and there are not too many games out for it. Can wait for a year.

PS2 games worth playing are God of War I & II, Takedown Burnout, Shadow of Colossus, Prince of Persia 3.

I had baught a PS2 ( slim one) from US 2 years back and got it modded here in India. It runs original games everytime, but gives problems with pirated games. the same DVD will run today and won't run tomorrow. next day it'll again run. the only option i have is to keep resetting it and it works in a few attempts ( approx 10 times). same goes with the Sony handycam DVDs. sometime it plays, the other time it doesn't play.
