Thanks all for your advice.
Srasania, do you have any idea how much Xbox is going to cost approximately in India?.. And i have heard somewhere that there arnt many xbox games around, specially in India (the "P" ones)..
more specifically, i am looking at the following games:

for that you will need an external TV tuner box (palika) ,its cheap and worth it as you can use it to watch TV too comes with remote and s-video..

however the XBOX is anyday better than the PS2 in terms of power, graphic realism and multiplaying ...
i would definately go for the XBOX instead of the PS2 ...there is substantial amount of difference between the two in terms of over all gaming ..

am talking about the last gen XBOX as compared to the PS2 ..why would i compare PS2 with the 360 ?

if one is not looking to buy a PS3 (whenever its out) then the older XBOX is a much better bet than the PS2 ..

Dont buy a PS2 now.Its hardware has become old and getting obsolete and the games these days are running at ultra-low qualities which is a total waste.
Now, get an Xbox 360. Or, if u can wait for almost a year, PS3 is coming

Hey.I guess you can get the XBox (Brand New,Chipped,220V,with dealer 1 year warranty) for approx Rs10,000-Rs11,000.
You can checkout www.ebay.in for XBox/PS2/XBox 360 sellers/accessory dealers.
The "P" XBox games are usually out in India within 1 1/2 months of US release date of the specific game.

Get an Xbox. You can mod it yourself using a softmod, it will take less than 10 minutes to do. There is no need to open up the console and you can put your console back into original state so warranty is no problem. Some places in the UK are selling brand new xbox for about £80 which is only RS6,400. If you know anyone who comes here for work ask them to bring you one back.

With a modded xbox you can use it as a console and as a media box, you can even put linux on it and use it to access internet. You could install a few emulators and download classic nintendo and sega games from www.romreactor.net

The Xbox is a very versatile bit of kit.

Guys, Please help me to find lens for my PS1. No CD is playing in that and it was suggested to replace with a new lens. where can I find a good lens in BLR? Please help...

if its ps2 go for the older version scph 50004 (model #) and get a magic 5.1 mod chip thats the best bet and games dont worry pm me anytime ill give u my whole collection to write your list is in there

similar problem with my PS2 .. it keeps giving a Disk read error for all games.
Strangely though, DVD movies play fine .. so is the lens is OK ?

Seen some sites, which mention that the lens alignment goes awry. Any clues anyone ?

I bought the XBOX today.. i compared both at the dealer (palika) and even though the PS2 was slightly cheaper, i went for the XBOX special edition (blue colour)

deceite... for how much did you get it from palika.... also i believe it is modiffied one and must be < 9,000 Rs.

@Ashi.. the black one was for 9200 and the one i bought cost 9500.

@Srasania.. Just one question, supposing i quit from the game to main menu of game, there is no option of exit (like exit to windows in PC games), so that i can exit to the main Xbox screen.. so that i can switch it off safely.. is there any way?, or i can just switch off the console in the main screen of the game itself?.. query no. 2: I have to restart the system (switch off and back on) to play any pirated game otherwise it showes that disc not readable or not dvd if i straight away just change the dvds.. Is it normal?

hey it is normal ..the XBOX doesnt have an operating system like windows ... once you have saved your game progress you can switch of your XBOX console.
Yes , usually you to restart the console while loading a new DVD....

ohh forgot to congratulate you ..smart move to choose the XBOX, i was hoping you would heed to some of us and go for the superior gaming device ... enjoy ..i hope you bought Prject Gotham Racing ...cheers
