re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Personally I think the 58" is a great deal. How much are you getting it for? I havent seen the pq but ive heard its good. Also a 60" costs almost double of this.

I too am considering it in a few months, except my viewing distance will be only 9 feet. Either this or the Panasonic AE4000 projector.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

^^ this dealer is vijay sales in pune and he is giving it at 1.4 lacs (mrp is 1.7L) - but he has only one piece which is open and for display at the entrance. They claim it is rarely turned on as it is not in the regular side by side display area, rather by itself at the main entry to store. They also claim it is just a month old. Being someone who is completely against showroom used plasmas, logic says stay away, but temptation if this is a really good deal got me thinking :-)

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Hi guys,
Bought a Sony KLV-22BX300 LCD last weekend as it was urgent without looking much. To say the least, this is the first LCD TV at my home and want to know how is its performance?

Do i need to register the LCD online? Any hidden/amazing features in it?(I haven't seen it thoroughly though)

Thanks,
ramki

any inputs on the 5 series sammy plasmas - Image quality that exceeds beyond reality Samsung Plasma Series 5 - PS50C550 - Plasma TV - Television | SAMSUNG

as per their site its 85k for the 50" ps50c550 - this looks like the right price and right size, albeit pq being slightly lower than the reference panny v20 series. Looks like a vfm buy to me.

Please avoid it. In Vijay Sales Bombay they didnt even know about this model and when I made them call up samsung to find out about it they said a new piece would be 1.4l. So basically you arent getting a good deal. Now if they are giving it to you for 1.1l or so then

thanks for the insight!! that clarifies a lot i was anyway going to get into the service menu of the sammy to verify how many hours it has been used - this is done using following sequence poweroff-mute-1-8-2-poweron
now i am looking at sammy ps50c550 vs panny p42v20d

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

finally booked the sammy ps50c550 (5 series 50 inch plasma) for 74k - have given 10k advance and will get delivery on friday from vijay sales in pune (they are getting it from samsung directly as they don't have stock). Hopefully this is not a piece from another store in bbay or something!
Not sure how to check the service menu on sammy - standy-mute-1-8-2-power is for US PNxxc550, i think for PSxxc550 it is Standy -> INFO -> MENU -> MUTE -> POWER. However i hear there is no option to check 'hours used' in service menu, just a useful option to change model from c550 to c590 which allows the Cinema Smooth option!

Why would he drop it 40k on his own, that too when he was saying its as good as new?

your guess is as good as mine - maybe they don't want to keep anything in store more than a month old, maybe they mistakenly put it in horizontal position and screwed up the phosphor. It was too good to be true so i did not go for it (was really tempted!)

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

after some research - i feel i have paid more for the samsung 50c550 - i've finalized at 74k but from online research it seems it is 69-70k! Can someone confirm the price?
I have paid just 10k so far, remaining amount on delivery day, so can still try and negotiate with vijay sales pune.

@ jassi: Sorry to say that your pricing of C550 is definitely on the high side.
Until recently, 50C6500 (MRP 1.1 Lacs) which is a far better TV (Series 6) was going for 67.5K all inclusive @ JD Electronics. I'm afraid they have ran out of stock now, but it may still be worth checking.

Is there a JD electronics in Pune ?
From their site it they are still quoting 96k for 50" 6 series plasma and 85k for 5 series 50" plasma
J.D.Electronics

How much should i try n get vijay sales to drop the price to for the 50 inch plasma ps50c550?

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Update - Vijay Sales called that tv has arrived from Samsung godown and we need to come asap and make payment. We went there and told them their rate is wrong, we've got quotes of 69-70k from other dealers. The salesman (Amar) who was dealing with us, immediately went and spoke to his manager and came back and said, ok i will give it you for 69k!!
We made the remaining payment and are now awaiting delivery by 8pm or so.
The main task of checking for showroom or demo piece on delivery is still pending :-) I did get a glimpse of the carton at showroom - it had samsung tape on it (but not so neatly applied!)

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

got the delivery of the plasma - not yet switched on - as it was transported in horizontal position! When buying plasma in aussie, i was clearly told by dealer not to take it home flat, lying on back or front. The Vijay sales delivery people said it is normal for plasmas to be transported flat to avoid toppling. I dunno who to believe now!
