or a good industrial grade stablizer from a company like ITI. been using them for last 20 years, no probs at all.

I am weighing between Samsung-LA40A550P1 Rs.62000 & Sony-KLV-40V400A Rs.73000 - grey mkt. (final negotiated price) Deciding in this week. I find the features meeting my requirements.

I had ruled out plasma, but since reading in the forum, did want to check out Panasonic but could not find a single store having Panasonic PV8/80 on display in Mumbai - Croma, Sumaria, Next, SonyMony & Vijay Sales.

Visual Observation via comparisons side by side in more tha 2 stores:
1. Tata Sky T.V reception on Sony was easy on eyes.
2. Samsung was sharper but picture was too bright & affected continuous viewing.
3. Found the colours overall better in Sony. Some discrepancy seen - dark voilet looks like black on a Samsung & a light red will look like dark pink in Sony.

Any suggestions welcome

Thats a good review - I had gone through it when I got my 42pv80d a month or so back. Infact I just bought the 4 disc blade runner final cut on bluray (30usd) to experience on my panny as stated here
Panasonic TH42PX80 Plasma TV HD & SD Picture Quality
As far as continuous stabilizers go, I am using a digital stabilizer as well as a 1kva APC inverter. The digital stabilizer came in from the panny store and that is what they use for all their plasmas/lcds on display at the store.

"Sony Mony" is giving a discount of upto Rs.20,000 on exchange of old working colour TV with remote.
"King's Electronics" (present in Nerul & Panvel) is giving Rs.15,000 discount on exchange on PV8 on MRP of Rs.69.9K.
"Kohinoor" (Vashi) generally betters any of the offers running in the market.
"Vijay Sales" also gives huge discounts. Croma & Reliance Digital are not that aggressive, although their prices may be lower on an average.
If you go to the market, you may discover even more offers.

Dilip are you sure its TH-42PV80D not TH-42PV8D as yesterday i paid 56K for TH-42PV8D.
I bought their combo offer and paid total 69990 for TH-42PV8D along with Onkyo HT-S3105 Home Theatre System.

Is this offer still valid? How good is the Onkyo 3105? Looks like it doesnt have HDMI support.

Can you give your review on the Onkyo HT. I am planning to go in for this Pana TH-42PV8D and was not sure if to buy with or without the offer. By the way, I do not have any HTIB, so, is this a good package.

It dosent supports HDMI but, i am going to connect my DVD directly to TV as its got upscaling feature. This Onkyo HT is value for money as it costed me 14K approx and it sounds better than any Sony HT pricing double of onkyos cost. This offer is open till tomorrow.

WOW ! It would be really helpful if you mentioned how you negotiated that price.
