aadix anna where can we check out pioneer and panasonic panels in hyderabad.I am thinking of waiting for the 50PV80H.
Whats the difference b/w 50PV70H/700H/80H
first difference - the 8XX series are new panels (11th gen) compared to 7XX series. If seen side by side (i have first hand at the same standard setting), the 8xx series of panels are much better than the 7xx series, both color reproduction and blacks (very close to pioneer 428xg series as per cnet)
2nd difference - pv70/pv80 are 720p panels which can handle 1080p (full hd) signals pretty well, whereas py700 is a full hd (1080p) panel and can obviously handle 1080p signals.
fullhd panel makes sense at 50" (not at 42" though) hence the suggestion the 11th gen full hd 50inchers to wait for pv850 or 800 (one of them is full hd??)

@kpbhatt - i am not an expert on the dlp projectors (did research on projection tvs for my earlier sony 3lcd), however on paper the mp730 looks much better than w100 (resolution and hdmi inputs, etc). Maybe some of the other experts have more insights for u what screen size are u projecting on

aadix is right..Digital Shoppy is the largest dealer of Panasonic. Other dealers like Bajaj Electronics and Home Town have mentioned this to me.

Hi Guys, I have a question - I just got a quote of 4+ lakhs for the Pioneer PDP-LX508D (full-HD) & 2+ lakhs for the PDP-508XD (HD-ready) from a Pioneer vendor here in Chennai.

My question is, are these prices reasonable ? Could somebody post the prices in Bangalore or Delhi ? With these prices, looks like I'll have to settle for the Sony KLV-46W400A ! :(

In Delhi, the PDP 508XD is at 1.7 (asked from the dealer, but the price can be negotiated to my estimate of around 5K). Add 3000 for transport and insurance.

hey dvr, guess jassi answered all the details regarding the differences, most of the panasonic stores & digital shoppys (the rajbhavan road store just got a new 50pv70 on display, check it out if you are crossing raj bhavan road anytime) have the 50pv70 on display, just head down to anyone of them.

and afaik the 50pv800 is the full hd version.

and even after the low price, they still have a good profit margin on them!

anyways coming back to the main topic:

yest i checked out the samsung LA37A550 (series 5) & the 37 Lg 53 FR, both were impressive (with the full hd feed that is.) both were full hd 37" models.

my dilemma now is keeping the future in mind, should i go in for a full hd 37" or pick up a pany 42" ?

and the other aspect is size, the 42" looks far bigger when compared to a 37" side by side. so is bigger better?

btw how good are the samsung series 4 screens? they remind me a lot of the samsung's old bordeaux range.

Bigger is always better provided your viewing distance can take it and you have the wall. Between 37 and 42, there will not be much of a size diff. and 42 would be much better. No one has ever regretted buying a larger size FPD when they could have bought a small one. In fact, 32 inch is of no use. Regarding HD, if you have the money, go for it, but then from many reviews and advice, it seems 1080p HD makes sense for 50 and above. 720p is also HD.

Wait for some time, you should get a 50" Full HD pioneer launched very soon at much more attractive price.

Full HD at 37" is complete waste for general use.

Another update--my colleague has bought the Panasonic plasma PV8D from TMC for 58K. They initially wanted 62K, but when he showed them my bill for 60K, they offered it to him for 58K, as he had bought many items from them in the recent past.

Finally got my Panasonic 42PV80D last week. I was busy with some family function, hence could not post immediately. Got it for 66.5K from Panasonic brandshop kukatpally.
Thanks Jassi, for helping me in finalizing the product.
