LG is not known for their dishwashers. Bosch is your best bet as they have better and reliable products.

Electricity consumption is like running a geyser since it has heating element. It'd also need running expenses in the form of salt, rinse-aid chemical and detergent which are dishwasher specific. These are consumable items and qty/frequency depends on your usage and inlet water condition. If your area has hard or poor quality water then you may want to put a water softener to prevent scaling / corrosion issues.

Is it on an eco cycle? Those tend to be much longer. Ours lasts 5 to 6 hours. It might seem counter intuitive but it is a more efficient cycle in water and power terms.

I do know many people who only ever whack it on express so you end up with 1hr cycles.

I have been using dishwashers since the last ten years previous one was Siemens and then after about 7 years it started to develop problems. Since Siemens sold off its home appliance division to Bosch parts and service issues began so I opted for LG.
I am using LG dishwasher since two years and is very good. The below video will give you an idea about Lg dishwasher.

The service is good and using good quality detergent/ Salt and Rinse aid will enhance the life of your machine. In my opinion you can safely go for it.

I'd go for Bosch. We have one working seamlessly for the last 11+ years with only routine descaling. It is used daily (no maid situation) or biweekly (with maid).

Only need to scrape off excess food leftovers and put the plates in without any rinsing. Crusted dry food on pots/pans can be stubborn and you may need to soak them a bit first. Intensive 'Kadhai' wash (@70 degrees) also works wonders, but I rarely use it as we have mixed stuff inside and even the top shelf gets too hot in that mode.

Ensure whatever model you buy has the auto-restart feature after power-cuts etc. I bought a Thailand 'CBU' Electrolux dryer and it has to be manually restarted after every outage. It has been heaped so much abuse that it's a wonder it still works!

I am a big fan of LG and Samsung for ACs and washing machines. However, when we bought our dishwasher in 2011, neither were actively pushing them or they were prohibitively expensive. Siemens and Bosch were the market leaders then.

Thanks a ton folks for all comments and suggestions; will definitely check out Bosch. Surprisingly, have received mixed reviews for the LG model, ranging from excellent to pathetic!

Considering parents are both senior citizens now, ease-of-use is the top-most priority. We have faced an issue with maids being very irregular, hence the decision to finally opt for a dishwasher. Thankfully in Mumbai, especially in the area we reside in (Mahim), we do not have a hard water problem and no power-cut issue; also since our society has ample water storage of municipal water, supply to all flats is across the day without any hitch.

Will be visiting Reliance Digital, Croma and Vijay Sales to compare models and prices. Thank you to all Bhpians again for their valuable inputs!

This time the service guy changed the mother board and it is working fine. But food particles are getting accumulating on the internal walls, so I have called him again. We will migrate to Bosch, soon. My unit, incidentally, is Made In Korea.

We've had ours (SMS60L12IN) since March 2017, and I'll do it Team-BHP style:

What we like:
- Good cleaning performance. Loaded correctly, it takes on nearly everything we throw at it.
- Quiet! We only hear the sloshing of water, unlike the whine of our 2005 Arçelik-era IFB's pumps.
- Every button, rack and dispenser feels like it has been built to last. The usual German pedantry is apparent in the controls and documentation too, if you're into that.
- Clean user interface and intuitive controls that even a child can use. Has all the essentials covered (all common cycle options, delay start, ETA display). Easy-to-understand hidden menus can save you money on consumables in the long run.
- Readily available, professional service (in our case).

What we don't:
- Misses some ergonomic basket features (étagère on both sides for long ladles and spatulas, 50-50 split rear tines which are useful for just a few extra plates when entertaining, etc.)
- Expensive spares. An inlet valve replacement was INR 1.7k including labour, and the tiny plastic rack wheels are north of INR 800 a pop! My grandmother, who recently had hers destroyed by rats, received a repair estimate of INR 30.5k.
- Suboptimal drying performance. Leaves the bottoms of cups etc. noticeably wetter than our old IFB Neptune did.
- More attention to India would have gone a long way. It ships with a 3/4" threaded hose, instead of quick-connect which is common for our washing machines. It arrives in fragile packing material exposed on all sides: just 4 styrofoam blocks at the corners held by two pieces of cardboard. My grandmother had to return one that arrived with a cracked tub.

I personally do not prefer tabs so use
- detergent Finish or Fortune
- Rinse Aid Finish or Fortune
- Salt Finish
with my usage detergent lasts for about a month(1kg)
rinseaid about month and a half and salt about two to three months as all the three depend upon the water quality and softness.

We have a Bosch Dishwasher (SMS6HMI01I) since September 2020. We were loyal to LG until this purchase. Previously, everything from our washing machine (17 years, replaced with Bosch), microwave (13 years, still working), and fridge (17 years, upgraded to a Samsung side-by-side fridge) were from LG.

So, why Bosch dishwasher? Because it has a separate cutlery rack, allowing us to use the lower rack for more cups or utensils. This usability feature won Bosch over LG.

Pros:

• Additional cutlery rack allows effective use of the other two racks.

• Barely audible noise, only the sound of water sloshing.

• Clean utensils every time, no matter what we throw at it.

Cons:

• Unnecessary Wi-Fi feature. We used it once or twice, but now I’ve blocked the dishwasher at the router level.

• Water sediment filter is a specific size, requiring you to splurge on their spare. This should be criminalized by law.

Bosch recommended detergent/salt/rinse aid are expensive. We use Fortune branded items. While FINISH brand items are good, Fortune brand items are equally good and very light on the pocket.

I'd have more expected in this price range.

We use a subscription service for our tabs and they work out to about 25 INR a tablet and this is considering eco friendly stuff do tend to have a premium.

I should add these tabs have been used for about 4 years now and they handle Indian cooking just fine. They also have the added benefit of not requiring rinse aid and salt though it does confuse the smart settings assistant of our dishwasher.

Ah you have the same series dishwasher as I do. I agree on the WiFi feature, was initially great to have it synced up to Alexa so that we got announcements when the dishwasher was done but since moving house a few years ago I've had issues with our broadband and that seemed to really flummox the system. Despite sorting our broadband it no longer connects to the WiFi and I can't be bothered anymore so it's been a while just using it as a regular old dumb dishwasher.

I guess the main thing is the vastly less water you use when using a dishwasher (unless you do dishes in a tub of soapy water which I've never noticed anyone do in India - always the running tap). Conscious of water issues I read about in other cities in India, it's probably been the main reason I've campaigned internally amongst family and even staff about the merits of the dishwasher. The other aspect is how much it frees up time. You might then argue that if you live on your own or as a couple, you don't have enough dishes to fill it up. Just get more cutlery and crockery and run it every other day when you fill it up.

Anybody has this mode of refrigerator from Samsung, any experience to share?. I have shortlisted this amongst other bottom freezer ones and based on the features this looks more attractive. I have checked this physically in Reliance Digital near me and it looks good as well. I am not interested in the side by side door type fridges. Having used a Hitachi for the past 15+ years its time to change, hence this search.

Yep, I bought my mum this back in 2021, in the same colour too. Been fuss free ever since. I haven't heard a single complaint from either my parents or from any of the staff at home. I tend to keep an eye on the corners of the plastic door trays for cracks developing - usually a result of jugs of water and what not being pulled outwards before upwards and that stress accumulating over time in terms of stress fractures. Touchwood not noticed any of that in my trips home. I can heartily recommend it!

In terms of other notes: it's fairly quiet for a large unit. Its slightly unusual dimensions made for tricky access through some older doorways and its weight meant it took 3 strapping young lads to hoik it up a floor to its current spot.

I should add that it seems the design of the door sill between the two upper panels leads me to believe the preference is to open the right hand side door first. There's this hinged elongate magnetic strip on the right hand inner ledge of the left hand door panel. If you pull that side open first, it pops open the the right hand door a smidge before it settles back. This is the only aspect that really bothers me, if only slightly and it's probably my OCD.
