Even though i hadnt initiated the same, i was transferred to a new CUG plan on Airtel, over the corporate connection which i hold. I was charged Rs.650/- for the same on my bill. I called them up to blast them for this, but when i had a look at the new rates, i was pleasantly surprised!

All local calls within the CUG are free, all local mobiles at 20p/min, STD calls to Airtel at 50p/minute, and non-Airtel at 75p/min. 200 local SMS free. I decided to stick to this plan and try it out, as the STD rates look fine, as against the plan i had earlier.

Can you find out the name of the plan so that I can call up CC to find out if I'm eligible? I would love to change to this plan.

Rs. 5 per number added (one time). Daily rental of 50ps per number.
According to 12141 (Airtel). Local Airtel no @20ps, STD @50ps. Works for me.

Benbsb: Your plan looks very costly to me .. I hold one Vodafone connection with 175 rental .. Calls within CUG free ... Local calls @ 30 p/min, STD mobiles 75p/m, local SMS 30 p/msg and national sms 60 p/msg.

In my opinion, 650 Rs rental is too high ..

The 650 is not for rental. What happened is that the plan got migrated, and that is a one time charge. I thought of fighting over it, but the way out would be rool back to the previous plan. Since the new plan seemed better, didnt bother to pursue the matter further.

Tata Docomo Customer Service - Going to the Dogs?

It all started off with me getting a Tata Docomo prepaid on the 1st of September. Though there was not much of a signal coverage then, and I was able to make or receive calls neither from my office nor from home, it did work pretty well on the outsides. Things improved gradually, and I am now using it quite a lot.

Now to the problem-
I activated Do Not Disturb on the 1st of September- or around the that time. I was told it will take 45 days or so to come into effect. I never bothered because I did not get any promotional stuff. The Do Not Disturb was important because I work in the nights, and do not want pesky messages or callers waking me up when I sleep during the day.

About two weeks ago, started getting offers from Tata Docomo through SMS. They always come from TA-DOCOMO. So I called up their Customer Service and explained what the problem is. The lady I spoke to was kind enough to take up my concern and told me this will get fixed in 24 - 48 hours. However I continued to get the promotional stuff, at least two per day.

On October 14th - the 44th Day of activating DND- I started getting the usual SMS *and* a call from the Tata Docomo IVR telling about their caller tunes or something. I was sound asleep and was furious when this came in (I had turned off the SMS tone, so I wont get woken up). I called up their Customer Service desk and explained that I am getting unwanted SMS and calls to a certain Ms. Rajalakshmi. She started explaining that I need to activate DND for which I told her to look up my records, as i have it active since Sep 1st. Do you what she did? She told she is checking something, and hung up on me! I though it might have gotten disconnected by mistake, and waited for a call back for a couple of minutes- no, as expected, no one is calling back (I know- expecting a call back? Too much, right?!)

So I called again, and was answered by a Mr. Peter. I explained the problem to this gentleman, and also told him I want to raise a complaint on the previous agent to his supervisor. He check with his supervisor and told he is transferring the call. The desk he transferred me to started ringing. 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... No body is picking it up... 6... 7... 8... beep beep beep. I cant believe it- I was transferred to a desk where no one is picking up- and this is supposed to be an escalation!

I shoot off a mail - to listen@tatadocomo.com and Nodal.TN@tatadocomo.com summarizing the whole episode. listen@tatadocomo.com gave me a generic reply saying that DND is active and I wont get stuff from 45th day (I dont really remember- it was a useless script). Lakshmi Balaji, the Nodal officer replied asking me the SMS received date and the contents. I replied to this on the same day, with the details.

It has been a week now. Has anything changed? NO! Do I still get woken up? Yes. I get the SMSes from TA-DOCOMO, and I get calls from their IVR with some offer or other.

If this is how a mobile service provider is "adhering" to a directive and law of this country, that too within months of starting operations, I cant imagine how it is going to be down the lane. I am planning to throw this connection off the windows and get something else!

Hi,

Not sure of any action has been taken on this. But I received a call from 9043355003 today at 2:23 PM promoting caller tunes.

Let me know what is happening, else I will be forced to take this to twitter and other online forums. I am evaluating the service on a prepaid before migrating to postpaid, prospectively through a corporate account- but this episode is irritating enough to decide against your service.

Jayanth SV

Importance: High

Hi,

I had registered my Tata Docomo mobile number in the Do Not Disturb registry when I activated it in September. Off late I started getting promotional SMS from you – the latest I got today was anouncing I can get Champions League update every second from “TA-DOCOMO”.I had called more than a week ago to complain about the same and was told it will be taken care of within 24 hours. I waited, obviously, for more than a 24 hours.

I called today around 2 PM IST and was answered by Ms. Rajalakshmi. When I told her that I am getting promotional SMS, she asked me to activate DND- when I told her that I have activated DND more than month and told her to check my previous interactions with customer care, she hung up on me - and never called me back (which I guess would be the normal case if it’s a telecom connectivity issue).

I called back within a few minutes, and was attended to by Mr. Peter. I explained him the problem, and told him that I want to raise me being hung up on during my previous interaction with a Supervisor, as well as seek solution for the promotional SMS problem. The gentleman was courteous enough to check with his Supervisor, and transferred me. After the brief hold tune, the phone on the number he transferred me to started ringing- and none picked it up till atleast 6 - 8 rings !

While I was appreciative about Tata Docomo as a brand (the quality of service, promotion, ads, et all are highly impressive), these two interactions have definitely left a very bad taste. Is Tata Docomo competing with the current mobile service providers in how bad can customer service be?

Note : I do not want to contacted through my phone by Tata Docomo, and prefer email communication.

Regards,

Jayanth SV

Well this DND is just a marketing gimmic. It doesnt really work. I have activated this on my Vodafone close a year back. Even today I get soo many promotional offers and calls from people i dont know who, asking for credit cards, personal loans, vodafone plans, add-on cards etc., Worst is when I got a call for a escort service! damn! all these low line scumbags!

I know that credit cards and loans are promoted by third party agents who buy these mobile phone numbers in bulk and that too really cheap. But no amount of abuse from the customers really work. They call you again a week after the first call and give you the same offer.

It is never possible to keep our mobile numbers personal. When mobile numbers are made as national IDs, this menace would be worse than ID theft!
