Nokia 6500C (again to gift) for the equivalent of RS5000 and last month a Samsung Genio for the equivalent of RS3500 . Some people say handsets are cheaper in India but I have always found them cheaper in the UK. Sometimes the pay-as-you-go handsets are locked but as my dad is with Vodafone he can request the unlock code. Network subsisides are not as good as they used to be but you still get the odd bargain.

Some of the regular high street such as Carphonewarehouse and phones4u carry generic unlocked handsets.

Others that spring to mind include expansys.co.uk

Also look at HotUKDeals - Deals - All for the latest deals.

thanks for the info :)

i checked out phones4u but they doesnt seem to have all the latest models.
Will check out the other stores.

Hi All,

Please do suggest any CDMA phones costing less than Rs.4000...i.e. lesser the better!
Absolutely no frills sought...no cam, no music, no Fm....no problem!
Prefer a Nokia make, legacy of being a Nokia GSM user (Presently using N82).

Many Thanks.

Hi go for Yari but it a slider but good cam and gaming features.

I need to replace my Razr V3. I'm looking for something with robust construction, good voice quality and battery life. The camera and music capability is not important. I also need to be able to sync with my PC to transfer my 500-odd contacts from the V3 and back them up thereafter. Budget = 5000 to 7000/-

I had brought a nokia supernova 6 months back and went about clicking videos and photographs of my 5 year old son. I have a 2GB card on my phone and since my phone was becoming slower, i suspected that the data in my phone was making it slower, also i assumed that the files were being stored in the phone memory and not the card. So i go to the settings option on the phone and change it from phone memory to card memory and what happened next was that when i go to the pictures and videos folder and I have lost all the files. I wouldnt have cared if it was anything else but its has all memorable events of my son since the last 6 months and I lost it all and am really upset. Anyone can you please suggest what went wrong here. Is it possible that It has got stored onto to a different location/folder, but i have scanned all the folders but not to be found?
Is there someway i can retrieve these files.

Guys, I need to buy a basic phone for my wife. While I was browsing the options, one thing got me puzzled.

Should I really buy a phone with 3G? Heard that soon 3G service is going to be launched and if your phone doesn't have 3G, then it has to be used only in the existing GSM bands right?

I am mostly inclined towards Nokia 3120 classic. It has 3G but I am not sure whether I'll end up paying that premium for 3G for nothing. Please help.

I have SEW705 with 3G. Hope to switch to 3G service once it is there.

Buddy, have you heard of women equality ? :-) If so, how can you have SEW705 where as a "basic phone" for your wife ? Hope the national commission for women doesn't read your posts in TBHP.

coming to the point, 3G, I guess is some thing for which you might have to get a new SIM (?) incase you need to subscribe. If your phone doesn't have 3G (like the millions of phones that are currently in service in India), you also will be like others who will talk like the way we do now and hence I don't think it will be a handicap ( except that you wont have access to high speed data). More over, there is no way that the cellular providers will support only 3G. So at the end, it is up to you as to how much you are willing to spend for your wife.

Looking for an update to see if anyone purchased an iPhone 3GS in hyderabad.

If yes, where?

If no, do you have any idea when they might be available?

Is there a priority given to a particular telcom provider before they get released to all carriers?

PS - I checked with the Apple Store on RD#12 Banjara Hills, and they have told me that it has been launched but can expect to get one only after New Years. For some reason I dont think this is accurate, because i have seen people being able to purchase it (like amitoj) in other cities (bangalore and madras)

Yea, got the point, me too thinking in the same lines. I am done with SE phones because of their inability to hold on to network when the network strength is low - this is a big problem when you subscribe to high frequency operators like Airtel in Kerala. As a matter of fact, my SE W705 jumps out of network when I am home and if I keep it in a table or so. I have to hang it near the west facing window - there is a tower in that direction. :)

PS: I am yet to see anyone using a W705. Seems like it is the rarest of the rare. Any users in here ??

Rotorhead,

Did you check all the folders on phone and MC?

In supernova (My wife has this phone) when you go to the camera settings and set folder for pics then even the videos go into the same folder as the pics.

As you said you just changed the settings to store these on your MC, the earlier pics/videos should still be on the phone. The data can't just disappear. Did you move it to MC??

Indy

Connect it with the USB and you will see all the files on your PC as it reads the Memory card as well. Try it or else, you can search again as data does not vanish and it has to be in a different location.
