Rohan,

first up - my apologies. I was expecting a more "instant" response, and at a more acute angle. I had to hold it almost 90 degrees and half a second for it to work. And even then, a slight tilt back, brings back the 9 keypad.

The "rich"ness is a direct comment in comparison to the N96/97 (with colleagues) which stand out. Its front is pretty bland - for me atleast. And indistinguishable from the 8k STAR!

And hey, consider me a data point. Nothing more nothing less. Let me put it this way. It has lovely specs, a very very aesthetic interface - the LCD screen is simply beautiful, and comes for a decent price. However, things aren't as easy or idiot proof as I'd want them to be.

I contrast it with my 2 week old E63. Got everything running very nicely in a flash!

i have had the BEST and easiest experience with the E63. Have it since July. The LONGEST i have ever kept a phone since July last year. Now THAT is a phenomenon ;-)

please suggest for me, i use nokia 7710, want to change now
which handset can be replaced with it...?
please suggest

guys i am in dilemma which one to go for. please help.

iPhone 3G 8GB or HTC Touch Diamond 2, i am more of a windows mobile fan, but not sure which one to choose from.

appreciate your help.

If your are win mob fan why are you confused? share your confusion in detail, then we can help.

IMHO iPhone would be better, if you are looking at the touch experience. TD2 is quite iffy when it comes to the touch interface (you *need* to use the stylus most of the time; maybe WiMo 6.5 will be better).

On the other hand, availability of some applications like Navigation etc. is far better on WiMo devices, including TD2. If you want a no-headache device, it is iPhone; if you want to carry around a PC, it is TD2.

No apologies required mate, your post was not offensive at all. :thumbs up

Yes, you are right. There is a lag of half a second and the phone has to be tilted at an awkward angle (initially) for the on-board QWERTY keyboard to be activated. But once activated, it stays activated even when you hold it at a more comfortable angle for typing.

I do agree, most Samsung touch screen mobiles do look a bit bland and are indistinguishable from each other, unless observed closely. But the AMOLED screen on Samsung Jet is a class apart, and it has the highest resolution of any Samsung phone.

It won't be fair to compare Samsung Jet to Nokia N97, there is a huge difference in the prices.

IMHO, carrying an expensive looking mobile calls for unwanted attention, which can also be dangerous at times. :Frustrati

It takes some time to get used to a new user interface, especially a touch screen one. Also, once you start using a particular brand of handsets, you get accustomed to doing things in a particular way. After this, if you start using another brand, you have to go through the learning curve again, and it can get frustrating at times. Believe me, the same thing would happen even to a person who switches from a Samsung to a Nokia.

Different people have different requirements and expectations from their phones. It seems that you are into business phones. Hence you would obviously not be satisfied with the browsing and typing experience in a touch screen phone as compared to an E-series phone.

On the other hand, a person like me who stresses more on the multimedia features (camera, music, screen etc) would not like a business phone. It would seem too bland to me.

It all boils down to your personal preferences and requirements.

What is your approximate budget ?

What are you requirements ?
- Do you need a good camera ?
- Do you need a good music player ?
- Touch screen preferred/not preferred ?
- Do you do heavy texting ?
- Do you need business phone or multimedia phone ?
- Do you need Wifi / GPS etc ?
- Any brand preference ?

Rohan,

I have a query regarding my Nokia E63. The packet data connection on this phone keeps disconnecting on its own frequently. I checked with my service provider and they dont have any issues at their end. If i manually restart the phone the packet data connectivity restarts and sometimes i need to restart it 2 to 3 times for this to work. I have mail for exchange which is configured to be in online mode all the times, however its getting disconnected frequently due to this. I fiddled around with the settings and didnt find anything wrong there. Infact when it restarts everything works fine for a day or two and then the issue resurfaces again. Anyone experienced this or is there any solution that you can suggest? Thank you.

somewhere in the connection settings, you'll have an option of gprs connection 'Always online' or 'when needed'. Select the former, and u're Done!:)

I have an N82, and experienced similar problems till I used an IDEA connection. Even my phone used to hang, b'ocz of non-responding GPRS.
There is no real solution. upgrade to the latest firmware, and it'll help. At least no restarts.

Anyways I shifted to Airtel, no issues since then.

Thank you JayD, I have done this now and heard this from a couple of other sources also as i was googling for solutions. I will wait and watch for a few days and let you know if the issue is resolved.

I have a bunch of questions on E63. I love it otherwise, but it is bloody irritating at places:
a. opera mini = too many qestions :do u want to allow to access internet, do u want to access user data, (for each directory level once), select your access point blah blah
b. Using mgmaps = impossible. each scroll = read saved maps directory. I am going half mad with this application.
c. Internet is WAY SLOWER (takes forever and a half to connect) than blackberry 8310 doing the same thing

Can anyone guide me for each of the above?

The HTC Hero does most of what the TD2 can do in style. Just flashed Hero's touchflo UI on to HTC magic, and its great. Thousands of free Android apps, is a lot of fun.

+ 1 to that. Bought the e63 as a gift for my friend, was taken in by the phone, go gave up mu curve :) 8300.

I had been to the Nokia Concept store a few weeks back and was informed the Nokia 5800 does not support GPS anymore along with TV out hence the price drop.
So was planning to save up and go for the E75. Any comments on the GPS and overall functionality of the phone would be appericated from E75 users.

Also on checking univercell website a the new LG GT505 has gps and is roughly rs15k.
Does anyone have any idea of the LG GT505.
