Hi,

I am looking to buy a budget (below 10k) phone with the following features (preferable a Nokia):

1. Best possible battery life even with BLUETOOTH enabled - both talktime and standby. Want this badly to use it with my car's bluetooth HU everyday (My current Motorazr drains very quickly with bluetooth switched on)

2. Should be able to initiate conference calls

3. Voice clarity and ring volume should be loud enough

4. Should have bluetooth connectivity with all possible modes support

Please suggest me a phone fast.

Thanks!

GTO

Slamming into the rain-soaked sidewalk hurts. Just ask your previous phones. But the Boulder™ can take a beating and get back up, even when you can’t. So don’t give it any special treatment. It doesn’t need it.

If you use bluetooth all the time, a car charger is all you need. any phone will be drained by the time you get out of the car, not a good thing if you are on an outing.

you haven't mentioned any other specific requirement, so almost all new phones will work for you.

How about this ?

Nokia 2700 classic Phone – Price,Features,Review

Was looking for a used E90 for a while and have come across a phone(1year old) which the seller has quoted 12k, yesterday gave a visit to "Sangeetha" P750 is now priced at 15700...

Now should i go for the E90 or the P570?

E90 is about a year old so the down side with it is no warranty etc

Thanks again to all for your suggestions.

Will check.

You should consider the BB, it makes work easier when on the move and with the whole world on BBM now you would save a lot on your SMS bill. You could get rid of that Reliance/Tata data card all together!
On my desk each working minute (zero field work). If I'm travelling out of town, have the laptop. A blackberry will be pointless for me, plus I'd really not have access to my emails at home.

I don't know, I juss saw it .

Any reports on the Samsung Star S5320 ? There are other versions too... ( Star Wifi and Star 3G). Seems good VFM at around 8.5k+change for the S5320.
I am not buying it for me, but for someone who needs a nice, simple, reliable phone. If the Star is all that and more , I will go ahead and buy it tomorrow morning.

Wow this is some great news x 2 !! If the N900 is so soon around the corner, i might just wait for it instead of considering the E72.

Qs:
- Did you see it in a store? Which city/store?
- How certain are you about the N900 launch date?
- Any idea on pricing for the N900?

Thanks!

Would appreciate any phone recommendations:

1. Should be great looking & compact

2. Usage : Only calls + SMS (No planners, media players, games etc. needed. A phone is a phone to me).

3. Quick stable software.

Thanks

Hi GTO,

I hope my reply is not too late.

Well most of your requirements (calls, texts, sturdiness) could be met by a very cheap basic phone. But you also mentioned somewhere that your budget is 15-20K. So I am a bit confused. :Frustrati

Anyway, I would like to suggest a few models for you :

Nokia N79
-----------
- 5 MP camera
- Music player
- Wifi
- GPS
- FM transmitter

Nokia N82
-----------
- 5 MP camera with Xenon Flash
- Music player
- Wifi
- GPS
- Model discontinued, but may still be available in some stores

Nokia XpressMusic 5800
------------------------
- Full touch screen
- 3 MP camera
- Music player
- Wifi
- GPS

Sony Ericsson C510
--------------------
- 3 MP camera
- Music player
- Slim and lightweight
- Fast and stable OS

Samsung Star / LG cookie
--------------------------
- Full touch screen
- 3 MP camera
- Fun to use

Nokia XpressMusic 5220
------------------------
- Slim and lightweight
- Triband
- Music player
- Low cost

Nokia 6303
------------
- 3 MP camera
- Triband
- Music player
- Low cost

Do let us know what you decided.

Rohan,
Bangalore

P.S. For offroading adventures, I would suggest using a mobile pouch with a belt clip or a waist pouch. :D

- Yes I saw it in a store, Delhi, It's even available online on Here
- I'm not certain about that though as that Information is provided to me by that shopkeeper, Btw Nokia says 4TH QUARTER.
- Just a guess 25k to 30k !

NO worries !

Thanks Unknown.

I did some digging of my own on the N900 :
- Confirmed launch date in October (worldwide probably?) source
- On the nokia site you can pre-order it for $649 (Rs ~31,100). Though i'm sure it will cost more than that in India. link here

The only thing i am majorly concerned about with the N900 is the QWERTY keyboard! It looks very similar to the E90 keyboard, which is flat and boring, doesn't have a great key-feel and its hard to find keys fast while typing because there is no real texture/raised keys on the keypad.

PS - I guess another Q is, will it be launched in India (since nokia has mentioned "selected markets")?

Sketchy details on N900 even on the Nokia site - hopeless! Unlike, say - N97, the specs mentions WCDMA under Communications, not HSDPA, WLAN, AGPS etc. No WLAN? India and China would be likely launch markets - more people here are willing to try something new unlike US.

Lost my trusty HTC S620 jostling in a crowded Durga Puja Pandal and need to buy a new one.

Has anyone on this list used a HTC Snap?

HTC - Products - HTC Snap - Overview

Also any recommendations for a particular shop/person in Heera Panna would be appreciated.

Thanks

I lost my Nokia N82 and looking for a replacement, planning to a go a little bit lo-fi this time to get more battery life.

One thing that I want this time is some capability to erase data on a lost/stolen phone and if possible render the phone useless using SMS commands. Does the "Mobile Tracker" that comes with Samsung have these features?

Also, is it possible to load a 3rd party software to accomplish similar functions on Nokia devices. Any pointers would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Su-47
