I Installed Skype on my ASUS P527.

Chose Storage card for installation location.
My card data got deleted and instead a bunch of new empty folders got created.

The properties would show 150+ MB in use but the files were not getting displayed.
Either on the phone or the PC or even on another phone.

I had no choice but to format the card and restore it using a prior backup.

But am curious, did any one else face such an issue.

1. Better keypad with more buttons
2. torch.
In addition, the E71 has rocker buttons on the side (that the E63 doesn't), the E71 has a 2.5mm socket (the E63 has a 3mm one), and the rear battery doors (in fact the entire rear) of the E61 & E63 are different.

The E63 is indeed the best value of the two by a great margin.

@mobike, congrats! There's a blackberry thread out here somewhere which is already a pretty nice resource.

@bblost, congrats on the purchase, you got it at the good price too, I think.

@bubbly, I agree. it is indeed bad that there are no decently specced phones without a camera. The (discontinued) Nokia E62 will also be a good option to look out for: QWERTY KB, 2.8in screen (QVGA), but no 3G or WiFi, great battery life.

I found a solution to 'beautify' the rubbery/plasticky looks of the E63, but alas, the solution exists in Singapore/Malaysia/Philippines.

Mighty impressive job I must say. And not too expensive also - at around Php 1.3k!

Foolish to be quoting oneself, but I bumped across this site
http://www.uniqueskins.com/product_search.php

Ships to India and quite reasonable too - $ 7 post discount. Thats like INR 350!

Now only if some budding TBHPian would dare to take the first step and let us know their review

How many of you have ngage on your phones and what method do you use to buy the games?
Please let me know how YOU buy games, specially ngage.
Using oxicash they cost 300 rupees per.

I'm going to be buying n81 in a few days.
-14200, but getting 2200 off from my old d840
-It's a smartphone
-Looks sexy
-Good music
-Gaming phone with dedicated A and B gaming keys
-Ngage platform

So since it is ngage platform I was wondering how will I buy ngage games and only option I have found atm is Oxicash.

Alternate suggestions under 15k? I didn't like any of the SE phones, used samsung d840(brilliant phone but want another comapny) and the other option is E63, but dad has it, screen is tiny, dont want 2 phones of the same kind in the house.

And finally time(err! a need) has come to move on from Nokia 6630 .
And I look towards my dearest T-BHP for help.
So,My requirements:
1.A very good Wi-Fi
2.Good screen visible in daylight (outdoors) also
3.Prefer qwerty keypad to onscreen.
4.3G preferable
5.Performance(UI speed) must be atleast on par with my 6630
6.Should be chargeable when connected to PC USB.
7. Lastly any other goodies like camera ,gps are welcome.

So , I shortlisted:
1.) Nokia E61- + has got Wi-Fi(how good is it?)
+ the symbian interface,rarely hangs.
+ lovely qwerty keypad
+ 3G
+ UI is fast
+Quite good battery
+Vast Nokia support network
+ 3.5mm Jack
- NO secondary camera
- NO GPS .
? How is the screen outdoors
? How is the performance of Wi-Fi
? Is this chargeable through USB

2.)Asus P527- + has Wi-Fi
+IE is compatible with all websites
+ cool touch screen and a keypad too!
+lots of one touch access buttons(jogdials etc.,.)
+Has good GPS
+ Chargeable through USB
+The rock solid Asus feel.

- No 3G
- UI is quite slow and hangs often
- Slightly older windows version(6.0 )
- relatively sparse support network
- No 3.5mm jack.
And
?How is the performance of Wi-Fi
?How is the battery life
?Any other common glitches

I got a quote of Rs.12700 for E63 and Rs.12900 for P527. (in a mall)
How much further less can I expect in retail markets (mobile bazaars).

I don’t want to go beyond this 12K territory because and any farther, I will keep falling into maze of HTCs,BBs and Nseries behemoths . So, please suggest , within this budget ,if any other alternative exists.

+1 to that. Looking for the best price in Mumbai. Have no particular fascination for brand outlets, so any genuine place would do.

Has the E63 been launched in any other color except for the Girlie Red and Ghastly Blue?

Why dont you strech a little and go for E71? BBs wont serve your purpose unless you are OK to spend 1k extra pm for BB data plan. And N Series is a different target market altogether (entertainment oriented) so thats again not for you.

I paid 12.8 at Croma.
The phone is quite decent.

wiFi connects decently enough although I am not using a lot of it.

The GPS tracks you within 3 mins in a car.

At KBR park it tracked me in under 20 secs.

The s/w version is Windows Mobile 6.1

Verify your Micro SD card when you buy it.
Mine is faulty. And since I am moving to a bigger card anyways not much concerned. Faulty as in I cannot install anything on it. But copy etc works fine.

I kill the task as soon as I am done, so don't encounter a slow/hang up issue.

Installing skype caused my card to lose all the data on it.

Actually I was about to PM you for info on 527 usage.Glad that you happend to drop in even before.
Had it not been for the lack of 3G I would have choosen Asus.
I could live with low memory and slow processor but shudder at the idea that some six months(or even less) down the line I will be forced to change the handset (for lack of 3G capability).
Also does it come with a 3.5mm jack? And don't we need to pay anything extra for GPS service (something like a monthly plan).

Lack of a 3G is not exactly a problem for me. I don't even use the GPRS
Its not a 3.5 mm jack. But the headphones are decent. I am not very good at understanding music. If its nice I like it and this I like.

GPS is free but maps are not.
However this phone has a tieup with Satguide.
They provide you with a One India Map free of cost.
You can read more on their website.

The after sales support from Satguide was good.
They helped resolve my SD card installation issue.
The Guy on the phone was both knowledgeable and patient.
Satguide if you are reading then his name is Laxman.

Also you can install maps using mgmaps.

Requesting you a li'l more info:
1.)Does the USB data cable charge the phone when connected to PC?
2.)Does Satguide maps work when you go out of Hyd( I know you might not have tested that yet but just out of curiosity)
