Finally!

Not sure what to make of some member's reports of seeing it on sale in stores (in delhi?)!

Hmmm. I wonder.
The drop to 16,xxx happened at the time the E72 was announced.

With the E71 @ ~17k and the E72 @ ~20+ (lets say 23k), i dont see any need for the drop in E71 prices? Wouldn't that also go too close to E63 territory?

E72 seems to have taken the keyboard layout and the flashlight from the E63.

Wonder if they will release a E64 soon at 13k.

Guys which is the best camera phone in the market today? Something that does not hang and has reasonably long battery life.

Also it should have a good (xenon) flash and regular numeric keypad (can be slider) as I SMS a lot.

I am considering Sony C901 (the white version) or Nokia N82 but am seeing a lot of adverts for the Aino on TV.

Like the Sony Satio, the Sony Aino also seems to be plagued with gremlins.

I would suggest staying away from the latest Sonys until their coast is clear.

Between the Sony Ericsson C901 and the Nokia N82, I would pick the N82.
Why?
Because the N82 display has 16,777,216 colors, whereas the C901 has 262,144 colors.

Memorywise the C901 phonebook can have 1000 entries x 20 fields and Call records can have 30 received, dialed and missed calls.
The N82 phonebook can have practically unlimited entries and fields and Call records can hold max 30 days worth.

The C901 has 110 MB of internal memory and can take a Sony Memory Stick Micro (M2) of up to 8GB.
The N82 has 100 MB of internal memory, 128 MB RAM and can take a microSD card of up to 32GB.

And camerawise the N82 beats the C901 hands down.
See : C901 vs N82, who is better? - Finally the art is here.

I bought a Nokia N82 on 31st Dec 2007, when it was introduced.
There is still no device that offers as many features as the N82.

Written a lot about it:

just the thought of it failing (say memory error) brought a smile to my face.

Ram one link would suffice. This is information overload! I am sorry but I wont read all of it because I know I cannot digest even a fraction of the information you have given me.

That said I will spell out my application (need). My office has more or less forced me (I am the last man to agree to get one) to get a Blackberry (which in my case might well be a White Elephant). Now I would like to still have a phone that looks and acts like a phone and while I am doing that I figured I might as well get a phone that does one other thing (other than being a phoe that is) really well.

All my email stuff will move to the blackberry. but I intend to use this N82 device as my voice/sms phone and since I often feel the need for a camera it might as well be a camera as well. I dont expect the camera to compete with a DSLR or even a competent P&S but I sure hope it will take usable photos.

Is th N82 a good phone? Is the keypad usbale for fast SMS, speed dial, etc. (I hate keypads that have little or no tactile feel). I put in my paltry requirements in the "phone finder" in GSMarena and it returned a list of 652 phones! Then I thought of asking TBHP and I hope I got my answer.

Hi,

Not very relevant, but:

The word 'forced' prompted this post. My wife has been 'forced' by me to use mobiles for some years now. But all this time she would look for fancy (as in colour, shape etc) and is particularly fond of red coloured phones.

Recently when we were searching for yet another fancy / red phone, she somehow was fascinated by the Blackberry 8320 curve phone and that was what was purchased in lieu of a Nokia. Her last two experiences with Nokia (both sliders) left her unhappy as those phones let her down in connectivity in her favorite spot in the house. The Blackberry has performed flawlessly with the same Cellone sim from that and all around the house.

Moreover within a week after getting the BB, she was well versed in SMS (which she was not getting a hang of it in her other mobiles) and she even uses email now. I have not enabled BB serivces and am using only GPRS in the phone.

The camera is a let down, though. But for voice and phone functions, it is really good.

E 72 seems to cost a little less than 20k. Does anyone know if there will be a price drop or a freebie offered on the E63 by Nokia soon? Want to pick one up.

Heard there was an offer on the E63 during Diwali. A Ray-Ban sunglass free or something.

Hi Guys,
I have been looking for a Smart phone/Business phone for a long time now. I am not allowed to carry a camera phone to work, so that narrows down my choices to almost nil... Can any of you suggest a good one, preferrably a Nokia thats still available in the market? (E61 would have been great, but its out of production it seems).
