Ah, well... since we were talking about being user-friendly..
Is that more easier than a single 'Delete' button click, present in Yahoo mail, finney ?!

If there are 10 mails on the same subject, in Yahoo you have to click & open each of those 10 mails, which could be scattered all over your mail box.
But, in Gmail all the 10 mails are grouped in one mail chain & I just need to click once & see all the mails.

Now, which is easier & user friendly?

Even though they are not under a single tree in Yahoo as in Gmail, they arent as bad as it has been described ! The search results would be listed serially in Yahoo which is more than convenient.

Please tell me this was a joke?

Whenever i want to give an example of bad User Interface - the first thing that comes to mind is hotmail!

Few Egs.
- If you're within a mail and you want to mark it as "unread" you can't! Infact they give you an option to "mark as read" . Thats like having a doorbell inside the main door!
- If you're anywhere other than at the "Inbox" you cannot search your mail as the "Search mail" field disappears. So you need to go back to the inbox and then search.
- On the compose mail screen the "TO" field has a massive button, (most people just start typing the name and select from the dropdown anyway), and the "send" button is a small link, available only at the top!

I could go on and on~!

They had some ridiculous ones in the past as well which thankfully they have fixed.

In Gmail, on a 24 day cycle, the spam count is probably - 0 mails.

(Though i'm not sure if you are talking about in your inbox or in the spam folder. If its the latter, then it depends on a lot of factors not really controllable by the email service provider)

I hated the thought of "conversations"/grouping in gmail when i first got it -- but now its one of the best things!

Think of it in terms of Team-BHP.

Gmail is like having a full thread per mail topic.

Yahoo is almost like having a new thread for every new reply!

Started using gmail in 2005, never looked back. Yahoo id used only for joining yahoo groups, and hotmail used only MSDN account.

You couldn't have done that in 1995. Hotmail came in 1996, and Yahoo mail came in 1997.

Gmail.
My Yahoo account got hacked many years ago. I didn't bother to create a new id.
Gmail is good enough for me.

Gmail.

Every mail on the subject is grouped together. This helps in better readability. I don't have to mentally sort out them.

Gmail has a filter option to sort mails from a particular sender from the inbox and delete them or transfer them.

G-mail, I find it more professional than Yahoo which has a non-formal feel to it.
