Web Mail - your preference

A short while ago I tried to access my Yahoo e-mail account - and for some reason, it did not allow me to logon. I've faced this problem earlier as well - this is not the first time.

I also have a gmail account that I sparingly use. Although it has not given me any problems, there are stories on the internet on how user accounts get locked out due to violations of their TOS - a nightmare if it happens to someone in real life.

I don't really like the interface that gmail has to offer, and given that most of my contacts are on YM - I prefer to use Yahoo despite the occasional problems I face with it.

Given that Yahoo and Gmail are amongst the most widely used mailing systems - what's your preference ? Please provide your experience and vote for one of the available options.

PS - Mods I did not find a specific comparison between Yahoo/Gmail, hence opening a new thread.

Gmail by a long shot 'coz of better spam protection, amongst other reasons.

I thought that Yahoo would be more popular - but the poll results so far show gmail leading. Yahoo is also older than Gmail - one reason I've stuck to Yahoo.

What does Gmail have to offer that Yahoo does not ?

It is simply better, and better substantially. You have to use it to know the difference. I have a feeling that Gmail is going to win by a very large margin.

Gmail wins , cause POP is activated for free , a feature which is not available on Yahoo, Spam protection is very good on Gmail, with the Gmail account other accounts can be activated like Facebook , blogspot among others , Gmail has an in built calender which can be used to send alerts for appointments to both the parties , provided other party too has a Gmail account. And many other feature make Gmail a winner.

Cheers

I have google as home page on all my computers, and gmail is a convenient click from there. I used Yahoo mail since 1995 when I bought my first computer, a 133Mhz Intel with 32MB Ram for 48K. I was on dialup to Cochin I think, almost 180KM away. Yahoo was nice and easy.

But since Gmail was introduced, I've been using that. I feel it is more intuitive, and loads up faster too. Just my own opinion of course.

I like layout too.

Both are good if you ask me.

But I use Gmail all the time.
