The Home Theater thread

Guys, I'm unable to find a dedicated DVD player thread hence posting here. I want a DVD player with USB Interface and the max budget is 5k. I'm having LG 26' LCD TV. I've shortlisted the following from Sony:

DVP-NS728HP : DVD Player : DVD/HDD Players : Sony India

DVP-NS628P : DVD Player : DVD/HDD Players : Sony India

DVP-SR650P : DVD Player : DVD/HDD Players : Sony India (The site says it has 5.1 Channel Dolby Digital unlike the above 2, so does it mean at max I can have a 2.1 working with the former two?)

My dad only asked me for DVD but I'm inclined towards a Home Theatre. Since I'm a newbie can anyone take the pain to tell me the good brands in this field and stores in Delhi?

Finally booked Wharfedale 9.2+Norge 1000 and expected to arrive by next friday. For player decided to go for Cambridge Audio DV99, arriving from UK in June.

I am looking for a budget speaker stands for 9.2, any sources?

You can purchase any type of speaker stand(s) from SP Road, Bangalore.

Hi Guys!
I need to know about a good home theater system for a room of dimensions 4.6X3.5X3 (LBH) in metres. I would not be going for special damping as such because of budget constraints. I need to know about the best system that I can build in a budget of 25 to 30 thousand rupees. As of now, I will retain my TV and the recently bought 5.1ch Philips DVD player. I am open to all brands offering superior sound quality.
The usage would primarily include audio intensive hollywood movies.
30% usage would be music which includes bollywood music, rock, bass heavy hip hop, punjabi, ghazals by jagjit singh, pop, rap, basically all types of good music which has a bit of everything in terms of vocals, bass etc.
I like sound to be as realistic as possible, the vocals should NEVER BE BRIGHT AND HARSH, the bass should be precise and fast but very punchy so as to vibrate each bone in my body. Maybe, I am asking for way too much but consider me a noob. So please help me with the selection process. Suggest me the brands for auditioning in Delhi.
Plus, I don't know of good showrooms for home theaters in Delhi so please guide me in this area as well.

Is it possible to get good speaker stands with spikes from SP road? What I am looking is in the range of Rs.4-5 K per pair. Otherwise I am planning to do it myself.

just the HTS doesnt play any media, you have to find out what media player you are going to use with your HTS.

I have got Xtreamer and that does.

Abhinav, incase you are still looking for showrooms in Delhi you can try these two which are within easy reach from Faridabad:
1. Sight and Sound, M26 GK1 (this is a multibrand showroom)

You should check the Philips DVD player that you already have and intend to keep.

Finally my Wharfedale 9.2+Norge 1000 arrived. Now I am using my laptop to play music. Yes there is major difference in SQ comparing to the dedicated player

. sounds like I am under utilizing the set up. Is there any low cost temp arrangement I can do.

Anyway my CA DV99 is arriving from UK in July till then I have to adjust with the present set up.
