Spent 19,500/- on a Sony dav 510. it has just come into the market as a substitute for the outgoing 390k model. has some slightly different features. I had checked this out vis a vis Sony 390, 290, Onkyo 3100 and phillips 3571. celine dion "power of love" for 2 channel sound and eagles "hotel california" for 5.1 sound and PQ. I like my bass tight and loud.

IMO phillips had the richest and best SQ. followed by the 390, 290 and 3100, went for the sony view its brand image and service. installed at home and viewing thru a samsung 29" slim. I'm happy and satisfied (for now).
Cheers

I have a 46" Samsung LCD.

Have 100% power backup in my apartment through gensets. So, if the power goes or comes back, there is disconnection of 20 seconds / 5 seconds respectively.

Can I use normal MicroTek UPSs (Rs.1700/-) for these as I do not need much back up time ? (Only for TV)

Also, if I need to put all my equipments (46" LCD/Media Player/1TB Hard Disk/Onkyo S590/Tata Sky/DVD Player) on a UPS. What capacity and what brand should I look for?

Thanks.

^^ you are looking at a ups or inverter upwards of 1kva for all that stuff. I use a 1kva inverter (apc bi1000i) and have had lots of issues with that. If you do go for an inverter make sure its sinewave - i paid 20k+ for mine. My recommendation is an online UPS, but that may turn out to be an expensive option.

Thanks Jassi.

Will you recommend sinewave inverter even if I need backup time of just 30 seconds.

What kind of issues can I face with 1000VA APC UPS? And is 1000 VA sufficient load for all my equipment (including Onkto HT) ?

^^ squarewaves or approximate sine waves can damage your equipment overtime - yes with 30 secs it may take years, but you never know. The APC UPS Bi1000i was the only one with pure sine wave - but the problems I have faced over years would make me not recommend it - you maybe lucky to not have the same problems though :-) the specific problem I had was the 1kva models use two batteries and if even one battery has some issue, the other battery gets loaded and starts failing and losing cells. This is a cyclic process and then both batteries fail in few months. I have 7-8 battery replacements from APC and have given up!
So UPS or sine-wave inverter, buy something which has 1 battery only (dunno if that is possible with loads greater of 1kva and more)

Thanks.

I plan for APC 550VA for everything except Onkyo.

Otherwise I plan APC BR1100 for everything including Onkyo.

Both of them have one battery.

Here is the setup that has been running perfectly for the past 18 months
1. UPS : Xenon 800 watts (Pure sine wave) with 160AH Amaron low maintenence battery.
2. 1KVA Servo stabilizer : from Servomax brand.
3. The following equipment is connected to Servo stabilizer:
40" Samsung LCD, Reliance STB, Yamaha V450 receiver, Samsung DVD with harddisk recorder.

I am able to watch TV + Home theater + STB or TV + Home Theater + DVD for more than hour whenever the power-cuts are there.

The max time I have run this setup on UPS is about 1 hour 15 minutes before power was restored.

I am getting APC 550VA for Rs.1900 and APC 1100VA for Rs.4650.

Should I buy APC550 for everything except Onkyo or should I buy APC1100VA for everything including Onkyo ?

Will 1100 VA will be sufficient for all my equipments?

Thanks.

Denon is at Barton center ground floor on MG Road. This is old info, not sure if they have shifted.

I am one happy HK/JBL customer for the last 6 years !

Tried contacting the phone number provided in DENON website (5768 6722) but looks like it is wrong.

I have not followed on AV RX once I got mine. Quite some time now. I also remember next to Safina Plaza there used the Wharfedale show room, (The same complex where you have Samrkand Restaurant). Not sure if its still there.
