Folks, a quickie question and required advice.
A very close friend of mine is selling his Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.
Price is 8k
Life: 1 year old
Good condition with flip cover cum stand case. (Seen pictures via whatsapp)
How good is the deal ?
The prime use of this tablet will be for my 1.5 yr old kid's educational purpose.
Books would still be the primary medium of learning. The overall usage of this tablet would be around 2 hours max per day (apart from occasional use by us to watch movies :p) |
I feel 8k is way too high a price for this price. You may as well buy a brand new Dell or similar Tablet for <10k.
Get a newer product, new hardware, hopefully KitKat upgrade. The older tab may not support all the updates from Android or even the apps.
If you want to buy the tab from your friend, I wouldn't pay more than 3k

Thanks! Buddy. Bought it :)
Now good news, Indian One Plus One phones will also come with CM.
http://www.androidauthority.com/cyan...us-one-572338/ "We are proud of the work we did on the OnePlus One. Through our collaboration with OnePlus, we demonstrated the power of strong hardware and software tuned for exceptional performance. To clarify misinformation out there, the OnePlus One will get OTA firmware updates for all global devices, including global devices for our users in India. Rather than have misinformation continue to circulate out there, we felt it important to bring this matter to rest."
Redmi Note. Here's a teaser :D. Will post the review once I start using it.

Guys, I am looking for a India specific oneplus one mobile invite. Please pm me. Thanks
Guys,
I am also looking for a OnePlus One invite if you have any. I lost my Nexus 5 and have no inclination to buy a handset worth 30+k's. Will be really grateful for the same.
Thanks.
Friends - me too is looking for a one plus one invite. Would appreciate if you could share the invite by PM, thanks.
RedMi Note review - points which I had posted on another forum (for your quick reference):
1. Big sized RedMi 1S with similar red buttons at the bottom. packing too is similar
2. Glossy back, no major finger prints issues though for me (seen worser phones in this regard)
3. No accessories. Just a booklet, battery, usb plug + cable with the phone
4. Same MIUI as RedMi 1S. Nothing specific to mention.
5. New firmware v38 available for download (530MB) (currently on 29) - upgraded & no change. Continues with 4.2.2
6. Does not feel soo heavy to me – coming from a Lenovo P780
7. Needs a screen guard & a cover to avoid scratches (at least for the back) as I am notorious in maintaining them.
- Ordered screen guard from
Ebay.in (with 100rs discount coupon :P)
8. No lags, screen is OK (nothing great), not very bright. pretty smooth with the operation.
9. does not really feel very big. it is comfortable to hold in one hand
Updates:
10.
ISSUE – the glossy sides makes the phone slide in one-hand if you dont hold it firmly. Be careful to avoid dropping it due to sliding off due to carelessness. Ordered
this cheap back cover (38rs) from AliExpress to address this issue
11. Display is good even in sunlight (i.e., is adequately visible with brightness at 75%). Watched a movie clip (limitless) for 15 mins. Display is awesome. But the audio is not adequate.
12. Nothing great to mention about the call quality. It is just normal (wont say it is great. I miss the noise cancellation feature in my P780).
13. Music play – this Phone was louder compared to my cousin’s MI3. Tested with the same song copied from his phone. Quality of the speaker is not good (pathetic – similar to MI3 I would say). I had a SE K750i once upon a time. It had some awesome speakers – miss that quality.
14. Battery seem to be good. 12 hrs (with just a couple of calls but adequate screen time) drained down to 72% (28% usage). Should last 1.5 to 2 days as per my estimate depending on usage.
15. Everyone is awed by the phone size, its display is impressive & when they hear the price, they open their mouth!
16. Camera is just OK. Nothing much to mention about it (from my perspective)
Hows the resolution on Asus Fonepads? On paper looks kinda low for a 7-inch screen. Anyone using it?

I have an Asus Fonepad 7 2014 FE170CG. I have been using it for at least a month now. The resolution seems ok. The screen is not glaringly pixelated. Unless you look keenly.
But it does not have an ambient light sensor, so you'll have to manually adjust the screen brightness. Tablet is a bit slow after I upgraded to KitKat.(stupid thing to do:Frustrati)

Is that what the "System Update Available" does? I am suspecting that, and think that I want to avoid it.
Had mine a few days now. At 7,999 (8Gb) I'm pretty pleased with the value for money, and quite satisfied with the screen appearance etc.
However, I took it in the car this evening with Sygic running (even though I was only going around the corner!) and the lack of a sensor is indeed a pain.
USB OTG: I've tried a thumb drive, and that works ok. Anybody here tried USB audio to a DAC? I should probably start with google on that.
