Still HWA is not fully incorporated in Defy builds. There is one (new) AOSP build there, but not sure if that even supports every ICS functionality including hwa & camera.
Not sure if its worth to try an earlier Quarks ICS release without HWA.

Starting to hate the widget drawer in ICS. it tends to get cluttered with shortcuts instead of widgets. and they look horrible .

CyanogenMod-7.2.0-RC1 released. Major changes as mentioned on the blog -
Quote:

7.2 adds a couple of backported features and fixes from Android 4 (ICS), over 20 new devices when compared to 7.1, and even some new features to boot (be sure to check out the new predictive contact search in the phone dialer!). We’ve also fixed some bugs along the way. Some of them device-specific, others that affected everybody, and one in particular that’s been plaguing Android for a long time: the mysteriously vanishing SD-card ringtones are no more! You can check the full list of noteworthy changes at the CHANGELOG.

I'll wait for some reviews before upgrade wifey's blade.

Quarx's 2nd Mar release was quite decently usable with Nova launcher except the occasional lag.

HTC evo 3D for 19K. with number portability this is a really good deal !

Any idea how much i can get the Galaxy Note here in Bombay for? Flipkart & others are retailing it for 32.7k. Do i anticipate anything lower that that? Do they still give the OEM cover along with it?

I heard from a mobile retailer that S3 is releasing on april 2nd week,did anybody else get the same news from anywhere ?

I would be very happy if it was true:D

Exactly my point. I wonder what background processes :D are running that have brought this about. Is M$ subsidizing hardware? Samsung may be doing this for obvious reasons in case of Bada. Or do phone makers feel customers will still buy an Android despite its lower hardware specifications? Or is something else afoot? The difference in hardware is clearly substantial. Look at Samsung's Androids in the 15k range. Not one is worthwhile. There has to be some strategy behind it.

Hey, but with android you get the "free/open source" operating system :D.

freinds,

I am in market for a good android phone under Rs 20K. I have shortlised
1. Sony ericsson Neo v
2. LG optimus black p970
3. Samsung galaxy R

The phone should have excellent email features, internet browsing, good GPS and camera.

for constant browsing,a bigger screen would be advisable and so the Galaxy R is a good choice but its availability is doubtful as Samsung has stopped its production.
A good alternative would be the Motorola Atrix 2.
if your ready to wait the Sony Xperia P and Samsung Galaxy Advance will be available as choices.

As to the success of Linux, I was reading, only yesterday, about the world's new number-one billion-dollar (or was it pounds? hey, I still can't afford it ;)) supercomputer. Guess the OS? Guess the OS of most supercomputers. It is only the piddling little commercial-world desktop where it has not taken off.

But the relationship between Linux and Android seems a strange one. It is a different environment. In the Linux community, a heap of people are rushing to develop stuff, some of it equal to any other pro software, and make it available free. In the Android world, there seem to be a lot of people selling their software.

I'm not saying that is wrong: low-cost software makes a lot of sense to me. As an Android newcomer, I'm trying to understand.

I got a Samsung Galaxy Pop with me which appear to be bricked. Can't turn it on, can't enter recovery, no nothing. Only sign of life is the display getting activated (still displays all black) when I connect it to PC. The PC recognizes it as "Samsung CDMA phone" but it was actually a GSM model.

(Picture from Camera360 app in my Desire :D)

Got it from my friend, who tried to update the firmware to GB, using ODIN and in that process, he managed to brick it.

I need to bring it back to life. It's ok even if it can be reverted back to older firmware it came shipped with. What is the best way to flash the shipped firmware onto it again? Is the factory shipped firmwares available for Sammy devices at all?

Any pointers?

Any pointers?

Step 1 – Prepare odin with the firmware u want to flash and get it ready to go;

Step 2 – Remove battery, SIM and SD card, next connect your galaxy mini to the computer;

Step 3 – Hold Volume down + Power + Home button at the same time;

Step 4 – Insert the battery and wait a bit;

Step 5 – At this point Odin should have detected your phone

Step 6 – Click Start button in Odin and wait about 5 min.

if this dint work do the following:
