I have a query - will mobile office work on BB without a BIS? I am seriously considering the MO coz tethering works much better and it is ~600 bucks a mth.

Else I will just pay 7k and be done for a year!
The MO should work, hats off to your DIY job, changing the bezel on the 8900 soon, so fingers crossed myself.

Falling in love...again!

Pleased to report a completely functional BB Storm now!

Got my unlimited 6mth advance rental plan going yesterday after a bit of heart burn. The Airtel customer support is definitely headed downhill. They seem to have downsized massively and most reps have no clue about anything! Plus, the "all the systems are down" seems to have become the norm. God knows what they are getting for their billions in IT investments.

Anyway...I have fallen in love with my Storm all over again! I had only used it for 2 mths before it conked for 5 mths. Now it is back up and running and it is fantastic! The youtube app is brilliant. Been going wild with installing all sorts of apps..themes, weather, radio, etc etc.

One of the best apps is the Soft Reset - it does the battery pull without needing to actually pull out the battery! I think it is a must have for every BB.

I faced an issue with the Youtube app - there was some error - unable to open java tunnel or something like that. Anyway...after digging around quite a bit I found the solution. It just needs the APN settings (Options -> Advanced -> TCPIP). Just put in airtelgprs.com and leave username and pwd blank. Works like a dream after that.

Would really appreciate some links to decent themes here. I have a basic one which gives me the calender (non storm users - the Storm does not come with the "Today" theme!! Can you believe that??) but am looking for something a little more exciting!

Need an app that tracks data usage, any suggestions?

Vodafone has a 2000rs plan for one month international data roaming which includes a 5mb limit. Hence need a software that let's you know if you're going over.

You are putting in the APN settings for the normal gprs plan, which is not included in your BIS unlimited rental. You will be charged per kb. BEWARE!

I have a peculier problem. I have been using the Reliance Blackberry CDMA services from a while now. My handset is the old one that is the 8703e.

Recently my handset packed up meaning there is a problem with the mike, something i have tried to get fived from the Reliance service centre as well as a couple of trusted repairers. All said it will cost a packet. In ny case my hanset is rally old so i need to change it. SO i went to the reliance store and found that they have really old handses. There is a 8330 curve which looks like my old phone with a camera.

I have downloaded google maps and have this great application wherein i can track any of my friends to where they are at that point. They are all tracked to pinpoint precision but i am tracked to within a radius of 5000 meters. Is this because of my old phone? If i get the 8330 curve CDMA, (rs. 18,000/- plus) will this improve. The other two options are the pearl and the world phone. I am not considering either.

I wanted to know if there is any place where i can buy a nwer model of the blackberry CDMA which will be compatible to the Rliance network. They have agreed to activate the blackberry services on a phone not supplied by them but where are these available and which one do i get? Is the 8330 curve recommended then? I dont want to get the Reliance GSM network as i have been told that there are many issues witj it. The CDMA works everywhere, thats why im looking at the Reliance network for blackberry services.

Should, but one needs to check with Tata/Reliance. The 9630 spec mentions "Dual-Band: 800/1900 MHz CDMA/EVDO Rev A networks".

Are you talking about Google Latitude? I guess your old fone didn't have GPS. It must be using tower triangulation method to fix your approx location. Thats the reason why is shows an approx location.

Any fone which has GPS will solve the problem.

Google Latitude is one scary piece of software

Will this feature work on the Vodafone 299 plan?

If I take the BlackBerry to US with International roaming switched on, what happens? I'm with Airtel and so assume the worst.

I guess for data, they'll charge an astronomical fee. Isn't there an option somewhere to turn off the data part unless I want it?

Any thoughts?
