I am not sure as to how they measured it??????
I know for sure that Palio 1.6 (GTX or Sport) is faster than any Indian car ....

Unless you put a 1.6 Baleno engine and tune it in a ZEN (old shape ...definitely not the ESTILO)

Obviously you have never heard of the vRS or the VTECs.

ACI has a lot more advanced means of calculating the timings (like GTech-Pro), rather than going on pure gut feel or some street-racing at red-lights.

It is fast...but not the fastest.

And the cars quoted in the list are apart by 0.6sec max which is kinda not much unless ur a drag racer. The reason most people buy the Palio is mainly the engine n performance. Besides, no point in gettin it when there are faster cars around with much better service n support. Not to forget mileage

Dude, you seriously need to either check your car or the way you measure FE. 9kmpl with AC for a 1.3L swift is like abnormal. 1.6L Balenos give 12kmpl even in hot Chennai.

I am not sure about the FE of the new Palio1.6 (no detuning I guess, but a slight reduction in weight), but for the old ones the FE is nowhere near the Swift (atleast from user reports on the forum).

@karthik247, thanks for the 0-100 figures. Cleared quite some misconceptions. And ofcourse made my day.

It WAS one of the fastest (OHC Vtec being the other) when it was launched. Obviously, a lot of water (and cars ) has flown under the bridge since then.

Raajks, I think there surely are faster Indian cars than the Palio 1.6.

Maybe he meant it was the fastest in the 1600cc segment...but it isn't either. Common u cant take it on a general note and put it up agaisnt the Skoda RS n all.

But it is fast in one segment...the hatchback segment.

The Swift's mileage might be low (i don't feel it is) but the Palio's is much lower atleast by 2kmpl.

Please prove your statement by stating facts and not by what you feel!

If you check the Ownership reports of Swift on this forum, the mileage of Swift is just around 9 - 11 Kmpl in City, so does the Palio 1.6 deliver (both old & new version!).

Thanks! I just checked, most of them just reported 9 - 12 Kmpl, with 1 or 2 guys getting 13 kmpl occassionaly.

So does Palio 1.6 deliver, 9 - 11 kmpl for certain, but if driven sensibly you can extract 12 - 13 kmpl too.

Well... The Swift does have a smaller engine hence more mileage. Another reason why mileage cant be compared. So its better to leave it at that.

But, the Palio is kinda known for mileage issues.. The Baleno which is also a 1.6l car gives a few more kms to the litre

There are more than a couple for guys reporting 12kmpl.

Lets just wait for everyone else to discuss this...

Guys, do post mileage quotes of the Palio and clear things up.

Don't have exact user-reported info on the Swift to quote, but what I have heard on the forum is mostly in the whereabouts of 12, with a few guys mentioning around 10 and a few even 9 or so.

For Palio, it depends on which Palio you are talking about - 1.2 or 1.6 (both old versions). The 1.6 version has users reporting almost always sub-10kmpl FE. Check out the following links.

1. I noticed a sudden drop in fuel efficiency last month. went down from 8 to 4/5 kmpl!!!
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...html#post41586

2. Earlier, the car used to give us 8.5 - 9.5 kmpl, then it started giving us 6 - 6.5kmlp...
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...nce-1-6-a.html

3. I can vouch that you will not get more than 8kmpl in the city with a/c in the Palio(I owned one). It will give you 13 or thereabouts on the highway. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/256636-post16.html

4. I bought GTX 1.6 from Manipal Motors in Bangalore. Have done about 1000km. Gives me about 8k in the city and 13.5 on the highway. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/258057-post6.html

Not sure about the FE of 1.2 Palio. The only mention I saw was
1. Fiat Palio 1.2 ELPS City : 9 kmpl with 50% AC Highway : 15 without AC; 14 sparingly AC http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/288771-post463.html
