Next-gen Honda Amaze global debut in the second half of 2024.

The all-new Amaze will replace the current-generation sedan that went on sale back in 2018.

Next-gen Honda Amaze to be petrol-only sedan
Expected to share underpinnings with upcoming Honda midsize SUV

On the inside, expect the new Amaze to get a fresh interior layout, possibly with a free-standing touchscreen set-up seen on the new Accord and the HR-V SUV. There will likely be sharing of interior components with other Honda models in India.

Honda is expected carry over the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine from the current model. This engine produces 90hp and 110Nm of torque, and comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox.

Re: Honda India : The Way Forward

This is one of the best practices of being a global manufacturer - A proper product life cycle. While the current Amaze doesn't look very old, Honda decided to bring an updated model, Indian manufacturers should learn from this.

Re: Honda India : The Way Forward

To be Honest,
Except City, all other Honda products are cheaply built and the interior grade is not at all acceptable for the Honda price Premium, that Honda demands.

Unless this changes, the future of Honda Cars is bleak in India. They cant ride forever on "City".

I don't see Honda's attitude change with this model, but I really hope this to be good and priced sensibly. I really do not want to see Honda making Losses here.

The way these prototypes & designs are showed, its going to be similar to MS products in build quality.

Re: Honda India : The Way Forward

New City, midsize SUV to drive Honda Cars India on a faster growth path.

The Japanese carmaker will enter midsize SUV segment in mid-CY2023 and aims to add one new model in its portfolio every year, starting CY2024.

- The new midsize SUV which is planned to be launched in mid-CY2023, around July-September timeframe.

- The company is presently in a ramp-up mode and is set to increase its daily vehicle manufacturing at its plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan, from 540 vehicles in the present day, to up to 660 vehicles, starting April 2023.

- Honda Cars India plans to introduce one new model every year, starting 2024, in the Indian market.

- These new products will include hybrids and EVs as well in the future. The company will be launching the all-new mid-size SUV in the middle of 2023.

-The company is expecting higher allocation for the hybrid variants of the updated City in FY24, and it expects the dual-powertrain alternative to account for 15-20% of the City’s sales in the next financial year.

-While almost 60 percent of the sales of the Amaze and City come from the top trims, the ratio of automatic buyers too has gone up to the range of 40-50% for HCIL’s portfolio.

- The company is yet again exploring the potential of bringing in premium models through the CBU as well as CKD route to India.

- HCIL is investing Rs 260 crore in the new customer interface (CI) of its showrooms, which will be rolled out along with the new SUV later this year.

This is good news and an indication that Honda is looking outside of its comfort zone.

Pausing operations from the Tapukara plant was cited as the main reason for plugging off Civic and CRV. If Honda is reactivating the plant, then it could potentially support larger frames like the Civic. Hope they reactivate the CBU mode, at least with the Accord and CRV hybrids.

@volkman10 , the linked URL appears to be incorrect.

I have seen 2 showrooms already undergoing revamping, one being the Honda Whitefield showroom in Bangalore. I guess thats a good sign and they do plan to stay in India.

I for one checked on the Grand Vitara/Hyryder for their Hybrid variants, however the quality of the interiors have a lot to be desired for a 24L + car. It’s strictly a 10-15L car.

A Honda 1.5 Hybrid SUV could do the trick considering its a much better system and more importantly its a 4 cylinder. Just hoping this is not their sub-4m SUV(doesnt look like in the spy pics) like some reports suggest.

Hope it works out this time. Honda disappointed it's Accord market by trying to sell the Accord Hybrid at atrocious prices, and totally threw their Civic and CRV buyers (and longtime dealer fraternity) under the bus by discontinuing these premium offerings overnight.

I believe the Tapukara plant is their only plant now, and is very much in operation for the Amaze and City. Greater Noida is where they earlier used to assemble the SKD Civic and CRV.

Maybe they have decided to reinvest in Tapukara for these bigger vehicles, but knowing Honda there is many a slip between the cup and the lip. Issue is their whimsical approach to the Indian market, even though they are among the oldest and most respected OEMs from an engineering standpoint.

I do hope they succeed, but it needs a lot of strategic thought and corporate weight behind it.

Re: Honda India : The Way Forward

Honda is set to have given instructions to all remaining showrooms to upgrade before June.
Honda new SUV to be revealed in May-June timeframe.
Honda will revise the CBU route for flagship models.
Their intent is to move away from mass market, and position as a premium brand. The portfolio will soon have the City as its starting model.

Recent developments shows that Honda is indeed going forward with the above plan. The next 12 months will indeed reveal whether this is the 'Honda India : Way Forward' or not.

To be honest, its the first time in last 10-12 years, it feels like Honda management is showing some interest in our market.
