Re: OMG Scoop Pics! HM Ambassador PICK-UP TRUCK spotted. EDIT : Launched as the Veer!

Aghast seeing this post on Veer. Its true the thread is aptly titled OMG. This is surely a big leap backward for an iconic brand such as the Amby. Instead of making a retro Amby with modern features, these guys have absolutely butchered it (say in half for this pickup contraption) and surely and really flogging a now. They have ensured that the brand directly gets picked up and dumped to the grave. Wondering what happened to their real CV offering the RTV. They could have at least resurrected that which was any day a plain jane mini truck model. Any idea if they have any produced in their WB plant or was it some where in MP?

It looks like this Vehicle is just for Commercial purpose they have introduce. Where the looks/feature comes second and price comes first. @ 3.5L if people get a decent carrier then I believe it will work out nicely.

Are we sure its not a PS mod job?
I still hope it is.
And if it is not then I would rather break that coconut on the head of the Gentleman in suits there.

The bonnet has been hammered down! Its not the classic Amby bonnet. OMG, whats is wrong with HM.

The picture of those guys in suits has to be used along with a caption "Wanted: For murder of a classic"

Agreed. They could have at least used the trekker for this. Why the amby ?

Correct.
As you rightly point out, the HM Trekker was perhaps one concept from HM which was quite appropriate during the time it was launched.
In fact the Trekker can actually be considered to be HM's half-hearted attampt in cracking the Indian MUV segment - it came in much before the Sumo (true the Mahindra Commanders were around).
The Trekkers, I believe were quite popular as well, sold in decent numbers and even today in some remote corners of Bihar, Jharkhand or Bengal one can spot these trundling along with 20+ people hanging from it ! The Trekker also had a reputation for sturdiness amongst the rural folk.

It's really unfortunate that HM never did anything to capitalise on the Trekker's strength. Refining the Trekker by adding the Isuzu powertrain, an option of a hard top, an open load body variant with short/long wheelbase options, maybe even a panel-van derivative - could have done wonders for HM in the SCV segment. This strategy was the same thing that the Firodia's had done with their iconic Matador being made available in numerous avatars.

The name is better suited to HM folks .They were Veer enough to do this to poor Amby .How much that loading area can hold?
HM competing with M&M for grill design

Re: OMG Scoop Pics! HM Ambassador PICK-UP TRUCK spotted. EDIT : Launched as the Veer!

I guess the scams are getting bigger, so the politicians needed a pickup truck eventually. The boot of the normal Amby was too small to accommodate all the cash.

Its a commercial vehicle which would compete against ACE and sort. The only thing that will make this sell is the price/a.s.s./cost of running.

And for the same reason (SCV) , it wont have a cushion ride we are used to from old Amby.

Re: OMG Scoop Pics! HM Ambassador PICK-UP TRUCK spotted. EDIT : Launched as the Veer!

Don't HM have a small truck to compete against the Ace already? Why build this then? God!!! What were they thinking?

Re: OMG Scoop Pics! HM Ambassador PICK-UP TRUCK spotted. EDIT : Launched as the Veer!

'Veer' indeed!!
What an absolute and (im) perfect mongrel of a design.
At the very least, these blokes could have come up with a retro pick-up design.
May I suggest that we hand over the HM "designers" to CIA for some water-boarding treatment.

Now that's blasphemy in its purest form! Looks like the good old Amby mated with a Ace...

Re: OMG Scoop Pics! HM Ambassador PICK-UP TRUCK spotted. EDIT : Launched as the Veer!

The sight of this reminds me of Hearse carriages that are quite common in Kolkata. Made from old Amby's these vehicles also have AC and actually look much better than this creation of a perverted mind. Why on earth could HM not ask some sane people to design the thing? Even a school kid with decent photoshop skills would have done way better.
