Honda did not believe in ABS/airbags till ANHC was launched. Till then only the Civic and the Accord only had it.

So your logic does not hold.

The fact is that Honda is a national obsession and their brand value will stick - ABS or no ABS, airbags or no airbags.

Honda is touted as poor-man's Mercedes. So no wonder they price their cars higher than what it ought to have been.

A statutory price control mechanism needs to be in place.

Re: Honda increases localisation levels! Top official speaks!

I dont think Honda will ever remove ABS and airbags from their cars. They had decided a few years ago of having 'safety for all' and only the old platforms were sold without them for a while

I guess they had localized and reduced the cost of their cars but were enjoying the benefits to themselves. Now with competition they have decided to give the benefits to the customers. Business as usual.

I would disagree. Trying to attach any altruistic motive to profit oriented mega corporations is a waste of time. If they wanted to change for the customer's pocket, they could've dropped prices far earlier.

They sat around for a decade and did not introduce ABS/airbags.

Those are facts - what you've outlined are optimistic hopes but the thing to judge manufacturers is with their actions not their words!

And I was under the impression that Honda has reducedc the Jazz prices permanently. How long is this limited period offer going to last?

By giving this offer does Honda think it is doing a huge favour to the Indian customers? Time for Honda not to just wake up but splash water on its face too and open their celestial eyes.

Offers on Jazz available only till all cars in the dealers' stockyards are sold.

All dealers are mum on what is gonna happen after that!! Surely, the prices have to drop. And obviously, no dealer's gonna tell you that NOW.

I'm waiting for the last Jazz in Kottayam to get sold n then get a quote from them for the new lot.

Doesnt sound like the action of a proactive customer centric brand, eh?

Trying to clear the stocks, or just cause confusion with customers, eh?

Re: Honda India slashes the City's price by Rs. 44,000 - 66,000!

Guys, I dont know if someone has already pointed out but the deal is even more sweeter now.

Dealers are offering Rs 50k discount besides the 44000 - 66000 price cut.

So the on road prices in Delhi are

City EMT - 7.80 Lakh (out of stock)

SMT - 8.61 Lakh

VMT - 9.11 Lakh

V-AT - 9.90 Lakh

This 50k additional discount is from July 11 to July 26.

I am tempted to handover my SX4 ZXI to dad and go in for City VMT on down cash. Should I ?

SMT for 8.61lakhs OTR is a really good number. What about insurance and Honda on-road service?

If you're looking for a vehicle, now is the time!

This is seriously tempting price for SMT as I bought mine for almost 1 lakh more last Diwali. You should grab the deal.

BTW which dealer in Delhi?

All dealers. I've got this info from Automax and Pearl Honda.

Plus there is a corporate discount too. So SMT should cost me 8.55 OTR and VMT 9.05 OTR.

Will there be a price drop in Civic. I'm more interested in Civic if that happens.

Went for a test drive in Bangalore today. Did not receive any such offer. Let me wait for this week and check if there is any such deal. Can you please check if there are any deals for AT also?

As you know the current Civic is due for replacement soon (Check out this link for more details http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...s-pg-19-a.html), I think there will be some discounts on Civic if not price cuts as festive season is nearing and the new Civic will be launched early next year.

I will suggest you to go for Honda City as Civic will be completely revamped and you may not like to drive a brand new discontinued car which costs 14-15 Lakhs.
