Re: 2012 Auto Expo - What to Expect?!

What are the options available to view and experience the 2012 India Auto-Expo through social media and micro blogs ?

In the Auto-expo website, there is no details about their Facebook, Twitter, Google+ user id links. Certainly we can consume the content through various media websites, however, an exclusive first hand content share from the organizers would be a delight for the audiences living far from Delhi...

Overdrive's Sirish just tweeted this:

Mahindra will showcase Ssanyong Rexton & Korando at Expo, launch later in the year
Wonder how Mahindra will fit the Korando into their lineup now that they have the XUV.

Would they do a Tata, and lead customers away from Ssanyongs and make them walk a few feet away and towards the XUV-5OO? Or would they establish exclusive Ssangyong dealerships?

Honestly, our roads would be better off without those fugly Ssanyongs.

Hmm. Setting up Ssangyong as a whole new brand in India might not work in it's favour. As a completely unrecognized brand I don't think they'll head down this route. Selling them as Mahindra's makes more sense but feel unnecessary. How many UV's can Mahindra offer in one lineup?

That said, the Rexton is indeed fugly. But I quite like the Korando. Looks neat. Quite simple lines and decently compact proportions. To be honest I like it's looks more than the XUV5-double-oh!

It isn't confirmed, but Chevy does have big plans for 2012. We might get to see a face-lift for the Cruze and it will be powered by a slightly more powerful engine as well. The Captiva is due for a face-lift as well, and come December 2012, or maybe sometime in 2013, the Beat would get a makeover.

Also, the entry-level sedan Sonic should make an appearance, I'm of the opinion. Not to mention the new Aveo.

I don't know how Mahindra is going to manage all of this.

Let's hope they don't end up pulling themselves down, along with Ssanyong, if things don't go according to plan.

I think M&M always maintained a stance that Rexton/Korando would be above XUV.

15-20 (Korando) and >20 (Rexton). It would be an altogether different story, how they sell them at that price levels.

Re: 2012 Auto Expo - What to Expect?!

I would place my bet on the Ford SUV! Which seems to be the only Global unveil at our shores this year, IIRC that is I seem to be liking that mini SUV concept, which is making me re-think about my stand in the "The definitive SUV vs Sedan" thread! If it is priced within my budget, it might very well be my first car. But knowing Ford, I don't expect to see any sort of numbers or even the interiors of the EcoSport during the Expo.

Any news if GM is planning to get the Opel brand back again? sail and corsa were good brands for GM in India.

Its looks smaller and nice . Boats 170bhp bhp from 2L engine ! And has an auto box!

Let them bring it and do what Maruti does; Alto-AStar-WAgonr-Swift-Ritz! Crowd the 9lac to 17lac SUV scene. Customer should get one a MM product if they step in to a MM showroom for a SUV.

Interesting !
