I think the reason could be that we have Swift for more than 6 years now and though it has come up with some facelift, there might be a mentality within us that its the same well-known Swift. Whereas coming to the case of XUV, it is altogether a new one carrying loads of brownie points.

M&M would be the one for me. Xuv500, as said by many is sure a great product from Mahindra's. Also, a game changer too.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

It's an unequal competition anyway but the Car of the Year for me is the Honda Brio. It is the car that impressed me no end sitting inside and also while driving it.

The quality reeks through and the package is a very good mix of comfort and driving performance.

drive on,
Shibu

I have voted for the XUV5OO. It is VFM, has good space and a powerful diesel mill, making it an all rounder and a very practical car for most occasions. The Verna with its wide variety of engines is a close second.

mediocre brakes of base and mid level variants is a strong reason for less votes. I too voted for XUV500. The next choice is Brio or Rapid. If you don't consider the looks and features, Rapid is easily better engineered car than Verna.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

Swift is the old warhorse and it is a no brainer that the name is enough to get it going 6yrs in India and still kicking around that is an acheivement of glory for a car in today's market.

Voted for the XUV and what do I find we T-BHP guys think so alike and there is no nearest competitor to the XUV. Hope they improve on transmission quality.
You bet the XUV 500 is here to rule the roost. Time for Swift to swiftly take up the challenge and become agile and vigilant.

it is the XUV5OO! The new swift and the Rapid are good too but they are not segment benchmarks. Rather the new swift is an evolution of the older one and the rapid is a cheaper, better vento at best. But the XUV5oo redefines the segment. Agreed it may have some flaws, but a superb attempt by mahindra. And yes, XUV5oo wouldnt be leading this poll if not for its great pricing as well.

The announcement is a mere formality now. XUV has taken the market by storm and we BHPians agree wholeheartedly. Congratulations to the owners of the XUV while the others are going green with envy!

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

Car of the year is a car good in all aspects with VFM pricing, hence my vote goes to XUV500, without any doubt.

Had Eon's engine been refined, i would have gone for it.

Voted for the New Fiesta

Ford Motors got the pricing wrong. But that does not diminish its plus points. After clocking over 4000 Kms. :

- Very stable drive - no skidding and slipping
- Excellent handling & great steering
- Very economical to run
- NO niggles till date

I can see the trail of cars becoming smaller in my rear view mirror after the lights turn green. (characteristic of the prev. gen. Fiesta carried forward)

Though I must agree The Verna and maybe in the near future, the Rapid may make more business sense in terms of sales figures.

Well I like the looks of Rapid much more than any other car except Linea, in fact it looks much much more better than Vento. I don't know but Hyundai never looks good to me, may be I am biased ?
As far as missing features are concerned they will be there sooner, I hope so as I am waiting for full featured Automatic sedan witch should be equally good in looks and features to my Linea E pack at least and I find Rapid will be it after missing features are introduced.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

Voted for XUV 5OO

Reasons why I voted for XUV5OO (Definitely it is not patriotism)
a. It was an impact launch. Booking closed out within weeks. Altering the prices of other competitors [from a segment above and a segment below]
b. Segment Creation. The first meaningful SUV in the 12 to 16 Lakhs bracket. A market, which expects good looks, good ride and good quality. [Though quality is still unproven, initial reports aren't threatening, unlike Aria]
c. Customer curiosity to interest to sale. I can't speak for others, but surely for me. Its launch made me look at an SUV instead of a Sedan. Stretch my budget by couple of lakhs. I would have, had it not been for my property acquisition planning.

Cheers
