re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

It was a tough fight between the Skoda Rapid and the Mahindra XUV.

I voted for the Skoda Rapid because it ticks all the boxes for a typical urban family. (Also because it was the underdog in the race!!)

The XUV 500 though, richly deserves the title, because it is truly a quantum leap for Mahindra and really excellent for a completely indigenously designed, developed and manufactured vehicle!

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

I love the new Swift, so much so that I went ahead and bought one. And I love every moment in the car. But I cannot call the new Swift the TBHP COTY 2011 because of the sole reason that Maruti Suzuki had it easy this time around.

The 2nd generation Swift (our old Swift) was as path breaking, bold, competent and fun as a small mass market car can get. And Maruti or at large Suzuki improved on the competence of the old car to make the new one. And kudos to them as they have done a great job. I am from the lazy design school of Porsche. 'why fix something that isn't broken'.

But the XUV is the original Swift moment for Mahindra. They have made a very bold (maybe a bit too bold with those whiskers at the front) and competent vehicle from a plain sheet of paper and they have managed to price it so well that all cars above and below it look so damn expensive.

So undoubtedly XUV 500 is the COTY 2011 for me.

I think it was also the car launch of the year. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offici...ml#post2553168. Now, I hope M&M keeps a tight control over the electronic gremlins and price creep.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

Being a proud owner of the Verna 1.6 CRDi SX, my initial call had to be it. But this is a global car designed outside India but is not a significant game changer in its segment. 5 stars for Hyundai though for being spot on with this car

My COTY 2011 had to be the XUV 5OO since this car is huge leap forward for M&M and is surely a game changer in the SUV space. Built for India first and at a fantastic price. Super alternate for the over priced Fortuner. The XUV will force other manufacturers to up their game with better cars at affordable price.

Cheers

COTY is the XUV500 without a doubt. An all Indian effort @ a delectable price which I am happy to say can hold its own against SUVs made by more established makes.

Cheers!

It has to be the XUV for bringing a decent SUV at a globally competitive price. Further, it is the XUV that is making all the other manufacturers think. If not for it we would be doomed to buying -

Outdated products at 10-12 L range

Or

Good Suvs at 2x premium over the world market.

Go Mahindra!

It took me a whole of 2 secs to decide which car should take the trophy. It changed the Indian car scene altogether and blew away everyone's minds. Perfect combination of pricing + features and Mahindra came up with a product which the market exactly wanted. Kudos to them!

I voted or XUV 500

Most of the Indian buyers prefer loads of Fancy equipments in their cars. I think Mahindra has not only catered this addiction but also ensure that it does it along with all the Necessary Safety equipments in place.

The Nail in the coffin for the competition is Mahindra's pricing. XUV does not sound too pricey even in Bangalore. Man thats an Achievement!!

My thumbs up to our very own/indigenous desi XUV500 - the styling, pricing, positioning, features, et-al.,

Edit: Just saw the results, a whooping 2/3rd's majority!!!

My vote too goes for XUV 5OO mostly due to its VFM price tag and the features offered.

P.S: It seems that the winner should be declared now! There's nothing close to XUV5OO in the vote list.

Didn't vote for any! I think the poll count must not be visible till the result is finally declared. The running count has a strong chance of biasing us!

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

My vote goes to Mahindra XUV5oo. Earlier I was confused between Eon and XUV5oo, when I looked upon the options. Then I scrolled down the page till XUV5oo came and I'm done.

one point to note. I didn't even notice the launch of Force one until I saw it in the vote list.

@GTO, when is the official T-bhp review coming ?

Its the Mahindra XUV for me. No other car launched this year comes even close, no matter how one looks at it. Its a completely new direction for SUVs sold in India, and that earns it my vote.

What does that mean? Either you think a vehicle is COTY or it's not. What do other people's votes have to do with it?

I was very surprised at the sheer number of votes my choice (the XUV) got. Frankly I was expecting the Verna to garner more votes. But then T-BHP isn't your "typical" car buyer's survey is it?!!

I did a mistake while voting.
I did not even see the Xuv5oo. Also, I completely forgot that we had this car launched this year. And I voted for the Verna :stupid

Its Xuv5oo +1 and Verna -1
