re: Fiat Linea & Punto 2012 Models - Now Launched

Tell me that linea's performance figure of 0-100 in 17.81 sec (with 92 hp and 21.38 nm@2000 rpm torque) is a joke. The older linea that was tested had 15.04 sec.

yes its the new shade. have seen it in flesh too. i have very confused views in my mind about this color.

on one hand the deep gloss and smashing chrome lines make it stand different from entire crowd , while on the other hand i think does the sporty blue look good on elegant gorgeous linea.

as i said dont believe these magazine reporters at all. gift them a wine bottle along with nice stay in hotel and they will end up with different stories and extra stars, and fiat and tata are very bad at hospitality.

You are correct Amit.

I personally saw this color during my FIAT Factory Visit last year 3rd December 2010.

The Car really looks SMASHING in this color. I was amazed to see this in person. I asked the Engineers for this shade, is it going to be launched soon at that time ? Reply: This color is awaiting MD's Approval.

Happy to see that the Ground Clearance has been increased. Best of Luck to FIAT for the 4th Time

FIAT indeed have one of the finest engineered cars in the market today. But they need to learn marketing fundas.
Hope, the upcoming FIAT Caffe's are a step in right direction.

re: Fiat Linea & Punto 2012 Models - Now Launched

Does this mean that the new Emotion Pack( 1.4P / 1.3 D) comes with the leather seats that come as standard with T-Jet + ? If so, then its awesome.

Please clarify : In that Autocar article, I see Linea's ex-showroom price to be 8.79 lakhs (Emotion pack MJD). Is that an estimate ? Because the current Ex-Showroom price is Rs 8,79,737 (for Emotion Pack MJD) [According to CarWale]

dear sid the 0-100 timings always seem an enigma as different automags come up with 4 different figures for the same car.wonder how many of them have the knack of properly extracting optimum performance from the engine ,i suspect they might be overrevving it rather than riding the torque wave. In real world this has little bearing as long as you are not on an expressway.personally have never felt punto underpowered compared to ritz/swift on a moderately congested highway with a fair amount of twisties as you can easily carry 10-15% more speed at ease into corners while others have to scrub off .A better box and shorter clutch can shave atleast 2 seconds off that time.

re: Fiat Linea & Punto 2012 Models - Now Launched

These magazines are like the front desk of the marketing divisions of the companies like marutis and Hyundai,Mahindras et al .
They speak as if they are pitching for them and are on their bank roll .
Take their words with a pinch of salt.
But the problem is the average joe is really implanted with these inflated stories of fiats making them run away from it .
Mention the f word and the even better off automobiles afficianados would jeer at it.
One has to look for one self not trust the plant stories like the paid news in politics.

There is no facelift mentioned. They have test driven the Linea & Punto 2012 models.

Only difference in the Punto is that it gets the Linea dash (being & black) and raised GC. No revised gear ratios or any other extra features mentioned.

re: Fiat Linea & Punto 2012 Models - Now Launched

Guys,

Is FIAT really participating in the Auto Expo? Atleast Zigwheels thinks so in the absolutely rubbish piece in the following link. SOURCE Please look at the engine thingy mentioned in the report. New engine options, but won't make it to India? What bollocks!

One more example of a "news" article based on hearsay, rather than hard facts.

From what I have heard GP will not get any changes in the interior. Only the GC upgrades. I got this from a person who attended the Dealership training session.

re: Fiat Linea & Punto 2012 Models - Now Launched

for only GC change fiat would not be bringing in GP 2012...
there will be some changes as mentioned in some of the previous posts...
bringing in new color, A/C upgrade, restructuring the versions (Only 3 variants will be available - Active, Dynamic & Emotion) as it going to do in Linea 2012...

so few of these changes are being discussed here on GP perspective...

re: Fiat Linea & Punto 2012 Models - Now Launched

Went for a routine check-up at Balaji Cars Thane. WHile discussing with SA casually asked him about the expected updates in Linea. Most of those already mentioned in the thread.

One striking point he said was, your Linea (Diesel Emotion Pack) has a GC of 161mm, the new one will (all versions active, dynamic, emotion) have a GC of 200mm. Asked him what magic Fiat has done.

His reply, Linea across the board will get 17" wheels (steel or alloy depending on variant) and tyres.

Will the GC go up by 40mm by increasing the wheel size by 2"?
If this true, then, its very much welcome, since it will avoid ground scrapping and improve grip levels.

But, considering the engines are still the same, will it not adversely impact Linea's ability to pull and move quicker? Will it make Linea slower?

Hope they are tweaking the turbo to extract a few more Horses (taking it closer to 100) from the engine.
