Works like charm; tested few numbers of mine & others & the results were accurate. BTW, this is tested from Chennai.

Great.Works fine in Bangalore as well..

This was very helpful in identifying the idiot who hit our car on Friday evening and ran away. We used the information to file a hit and run case with the police along with a RTO complaint as he was running without paying tax for the past two years and for operating a taxi with white registration plate.

Works perfect for Pune as well as Bangalore. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Although, it did not show up the details of my DL registered bike which I had sold off a couple of years back. Really wanted to confirm that the buyer has indeed transferred the vehicle on his name.. But thanks in any case. Hope this will be useful for more of us like it was to @speedmiester

Cheers,
R_S

Worked for me as well. However my 2002 pune registered car gave no information .
This was sold in 2004 but i am not sure if the owner actually transfered it or not.

My 2004 registered car ( pune ) which was subsequenty stolen still shows my name . A car we registered just last month also gives out correct information .

Nice tool . Atleast to verify that information is correctly recorded on RTO database .

Its giving incorrect information, i tried on the car which i had sold 3 years back and i am aware that its registration has been transferred to a different owner (confirmed from web site). This SMS says its registered under my name.

Gives Vehicle type, Owner name, Regn/Fit upto, and road tax paid upto, details.

It's giving incorrect information for ownership transferred vehicle. Both of my old transferred vehicle, it's still showing in my name in the SMS. But in the website https://vahan.nic.in/nrservices/face...rchDetails.jsp it's showing actual owners name.

Thanks, it works in KERALA too.

And i tried to Locate my Karnataka 2003 Pulsar KA 19 U 0002 , But i couldnt locate.

This is a nice to have service. Benefits are manifold.

For my earlier car with a navi mumbai registration: this came back with a message "Vehicle details not found. Contact registering authority for digitizing the details"

For my current vehicle with a Mumbai reg: I got the message in an instant. All the data is correct except for the matter that they have recorded my vehicle as a BS3 and not 4.

For a bike which I had owned once upon a time in Bengaluru: Worked correctly. However the response took around 18 minutes to be received.

i feel the success rate for this service has been good. Till now i tried for 4 different vehicles in Bangalore and got all correct responses. This is surely beneficial to track owner information through registration no.

I might be termed a sceptic but I am not too comfortable with this idea. I feel as a consumer my privacy is violated, when the government decides to make details of my ownership public, without my consent. Though it can be useful in a number of ways however, it can also be used for all the wrong reasons. Ideally a tool like this should remain only with the law enforcement agencies or some independent body that will give a report of ownership after the requisite paper work.

No response to this service....sent sms but nothing came :(

I agree. The number of the vehicle is enough for lodging a case. Why should the name of the owner be made available to everyone without control?
Thanks for bringing it up. Saw none complaining about it :)

Yes. I agree with this. Just with a single SMS anyone can access my Name & Vehicle Details. There needs to be some control over availability of this information, because it is of not much use to general public.

Also I have pre-owned Bike & Car, both registered in 2007. The details of Bike is available on this service, but details of my Car are not available. Strange enough.

Thanks,

Tried with my earlier vehicle (Hyd reg.) - received message that details not found.
