I believe EcoBoost engine is not locally manufactured but sourced from Thailand. But if that does not change soon, those 1 Year+ waiting periods are here to stay

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Honda seriously needs to ramp up the production of the Amaze to take on the DZire. The Tapukara facility should be good to go by the end of this year as they get ready with slew of new launches for '14. So far so good for this month! July will be another story with the Ecosport coming in, which could be a reason why the Duster's sales have been declining. The Ertiga finally is up there head on with the Innova. Toyota really need to bring in the next gen unless they are still happy. Fiat is an altogether different story. Are they happy being 'there'?

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Why is Chervolet Tavera counts showing a negative number (-26). Is there a recall for the same like diesel Sail hatch and sedans ?

132 Fabia's rolled out from factory, uncleared inventory?

Fortuner is a different beast altogether. Consistently putting up figures. Still a little bit nervous about the same show by Ecosport. XUV was a game changer but hearing a lot of niggle issues from owners these days.

Junes figures are quite interesting to me as am following up the Japanese segment a lot. THere was an interview of Honda India president in todays Hindu and felt they are still targetting non-India markets mainly.

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

I too got the same question - Why Tavera is showing sales as -21 ??
Really surprised to see a decline for Honda. Are they not able to meet the required number of units or is it really not selling.
Maruti proved to be Maruti again, all top spots reclaimed!
Waiting for next month's Duster and Ecosport sales!

Parrys, Thanks for the figures, was really impatient to see the figures.

As mentioned in the notes at the end of the first post, Taveras which were dispatched last month have been recalled. Hence the negative numbers.

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

So finally Maruti has stated sharing the Diesel and petrol break up.

Ford should ramp up the petrol delivery of Ecosport.

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Thanks Parry indeed!

XUV5OO is seeing a downward trend and Mahindra's have taken a step today only to bring some relief. They have basically reduced the prices by 27,000 for W6 and 33,000 for W8 by dodging Indian regulation of SUV criteria as they have now shifted from European method of measuring ground clearance to Indian method of measuring the ground clearance and added a stone guard. Although they need to get their pricing back to the original launch prices to stay VFM (in my opinion)

Competitor to XUV5OO at one point of time, TATA Aria is literally wiped off from the sales chart with just 2 cars sold in June. Wonder when TATA is going wake up to take the challenge thrown by its competitors. Although my feeling is that this is going to happen soon with a complete image makeover to review TATA Motors.

Hot Launch of the month is in action with cloaking 4002, shows its now ready to challenge the segment leader (and also other hatchbacks in the same price bracket)

Common man's car Alto, Swift, Dzire & Wagon R doing their job nicely to keep Maruti sales register ticking

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Eagerly awaited. Thanks.

So Suzuki Swifts finally facing the heat or market is tanking per se?

Indica sisters seems to have settled @ 5000 mark. Unless they care to change the interior plastic texture and the gear lever that ages lightning fast, I will think twice before buying one Manza or Vista.

Chevy Beat deserves more numbers IMHO.

Let's wait and see it Horizonext brings home the results Tata wanted.

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Thanks parrys of the figures, surprising to see GTO's analysis missing from the initial posts. I guess June month had been a pretty bad with more pain to follow in July. The only bright thing in June was the launch of Ecosport. I thought the Ecosport numbers would cross 5K but nevertheless sufficient to make the dent in Duster sales. Surprised to see Figo sales drop to such a low numbers.

Whats with the negative figures for Sail Sedan & Uva diesel models? Also whats the reason for the sudden perk up in Fluence numbers - any major disocunt/limited editions offerings?

So has the Corolla. Good to see petrols clawing back but sad to see the overall market declining.

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

I am surprised to see XUV in the 1300 range. Looks like Duster and Ecosport have eaten up the XUV customers. XUV was going at 4k + units last year and is now in the 1300 region. Looks like the ONR 16 lakh+ price tag has not yielded positive results for Mahindra. People seem to prefer owning a smaller SUV at 60-70% price than a full sized SUV at 100% price and it does show in the sales figures of Duster and Eco Sport.
Xylo , Quantro and XUV in the 1000 region ain't good news for Mahindra.

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Thanks for the eagerly awaited post. Here are few comments
- Maruti still in a great positiongiven the market situation
- Duster numbers would be interesting to watch in the coming months.
- Ecosportis slowly cannibalizing Figo's numbers?
- Fiat not interested in the number game -Linea numbers not ticking, effect of petrol hike?
July and the coming months would be a challenge to the Auto industry!

Cheers!

Meagre sales volumes from fiesta classic.
Overall better volume for Fiat. Good to see punto crossing the 500 mark.
