Scoop! Maruti Alto K10 facelift caught EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 3.06 lakh

Mod Note: The 2014 Maruti Alto K10 Review has been uploaded at this link. Please continue the discussion on the review thread. Thanks!

Motorbash have managed to lay hands at exclusive spy pics of Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 facelift. Here is the link to their report:

http://motorbash.com/maruti-alto-k10...-sep-oct-2014/

Here are the pics:

Seemingly the facelift is inspired from Celerio & new Alto800.

Here are the details of changes apparent:
- Larger more stylish swept-back headlamps
- New engine grille with chrome outline on the top
- Redesigned front bumper including the airdam and fog lamp housing
- The car appears to be slightly taller than the current Alto K10
- New rounded bonnet

From what I could make out, the current one is much better looking, a facelift for the k10 does not make sense as Celerio is already here with the same engine.

It looks lke Alto 800 with a bigger nose! The Celerio inspired headlamps looks nice. Glad that they finally did away with the old Alto body shell.
Neat find (y)

Looks like the Alto 800 is going to get a new variant with the K10 B/C engine. Although motorbash claims that its an Alto 800 facelift, the longer hood points to a high probability of getting a K10 motor under the hood. Add an AMT transmission to the equation, and boy oh boy looks like the orders books are going to swell again.

The body shell seems to be the one as the old Alto (Alto K10 is different completely, I suppose) . Is that just me?

I find the existing one to be quite handsome. Not sure, why they'd want to create a resemblance with it's elder sister which retails for a few thousands higher . Part sharing, lack of design creativity at play?

The body shell is that of the current gen Alto 800. Its getting a new longer bonnet, revised grille, front bumper and headlights. This is what can be understood from the pictures so far. Most probably the tailgate and rear lights could also see a revision. Upmarket RVM's, larger headlamps and bumpers with a provision for fog lamps all point to the possibility of a K10 motor under its hood.

Somehow I really liked the way the K10 looked. Face-lifting it, that too with the 800 as base is a bad idea IMO.

Also the Celerio seems inspired from the Etios series, Toyota.

Only people I think are authentic in designing are Hyundai. Love the fluidic designs on all their vehicles.

I don't care much about the look, just put in an AMT box and you can have my money MSIL!

With AMt, this will be the best car for me to travel to work and back everyday.

The original Alto and A-Star were such sweet looking cars. They totally ruined the alto with the Alto-800. The Celerio also, IMO is a design flop. The above pictures also aren't really generating any sort of curiosity within me. MSIL needs to come up with something snappy soon!

Could not agree more. It pained to see the lovely-looking original Alto (nice in black / white colors) replaced by the Alto-800, which looks bizarre from all angles.
Yet it sells in tens of thousands monthly, which probably explains why there is no incentive for them to sweat it out in terms of better design/looks.

The A-Star's looks could be hit or miss - with most hating the looks - I like it, but it could be because we own couple of them.

This is a car on Alto800 body shell, IMO. I guess this will come as Alto1000 and replace Alto K10 altogether.

re: Scoop! Maruti Alto K10 facelift caught EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 3.06 lakh

This is on expected lines. It was only a matter of time before Maruti Suzuki plonked the k10 engine into the more modern bodyshell of the Alto800, and discontinued the existing Alto k10. What are they going to call this? The Alto1000 or simply the New Alto k10?

The time is ripe now as competitors like Datsun Go and Hyundai Eon Kappa 1.0 lit. have entered the field. This car should seamlessly replace the existing Alto k10 and slot in between the Alto800 and Wagon R in Maruti Suzuki's hatchback line-up.

The longer bonnet and front styling are inspired by the Celerio. The wheels seem to be 13" ones clad with fatter tyres when compared to the Alto800's 145/80R12s.

I hope Maruti Suzuki do not skimp on safety features this time. A driver's airbag (the Alto800 already has it) and ABS are expected, at the very least.
