Agreed - and it was the first to get the TDi DSG as well. Was the one diesel automatic option in and around that price range till the Skoda Rapid DSG came along.

However, as far as the market is concerned - they've got the packaging very wrong. Lowest in segment rear seat space + lowest in segment boot space + highest price tag is the reason why the sales are at the bottom of the segment.

Re: Compact Sedans - 15 reasons why you probably shouldn't listen to the enthusiast!

My brother did a pre-owned compact sedan vs premium hatchback search, and finally put his money on a compact sedan:

Compact Sedans - 15 reasons why you probably shouldn't listen to the enthusiast!-img20200119wa0022.jpg

Compact Sedans - 15 reasons why you probably shouldn't listen to the enthusiast!-img20200119wa0023.jpg

Reasons:

- Dzire does NOT look ugly
- Decent sized boot unlike previous gen dzire
- Zxi+ AMT is packed with features
- Reasonably priced at Rs. 7 lakhs (vs Rs. 10.5 Lakhs for a new one) for a car that has run just 18000 kms

He evaluated these premium hatcbacks:

- Honda Jazz CVT does not have adjustable rear headrests. Not as feature rich as Dzire
- VW Polo DSG has poor rear legroom. Plus concerns about gearbox reliability.
- Does not like the way Baleno CVT looks
- Hyundai i20 TC/CVT variants not available in used car market yet.

Top end Rapid DSG is nearly 3 lakhs more than the Top end Ameo DSG

If you are looking for a car which is enough for an average built Indian family then Ameo makes more sense than any other compact sedan. It is ugly, agreed but the pros outweigh the cons.

Ameo is good only in the DSG version. For manual the Polo is the one which should be preferred. Ameo has the same engine as the Polo GT TDI which is powerful than the normal diesel Polo. Still, with another 20k you can remap the Polo to make more power than the stock Ameo.

Ameo DSG makes up for an enthusiastic drive as well. It does not take the corners very well because of the cut off rear but manages to stick like a glue on straight lines. I sometimes feel like starting a thread giving details about Ameo DSG and name it 'Ameo DSG, the more GT than the Polo GT TSI'

Congratulations to your brother. That sounds a very sweet deal considering Maruti's resale value. Is it a 2017 model?
