Seems like Suzuki folks are given the design catechism so as to leave space for the T badge too.

Yes I second this. It is reminiscent of the old Honda CRV especially the C pillar area. The silhouette and overall stance has striking semblance with CRV in my eyes. Hence it loses out on a tough and SUV ish stance.

Re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

Next-Gen Suzuki Vitara will be based on the modified C-platform that will also underpin the upcoming Maruti mid-sized SUV.

The Global Vitara is rumoured to be unveiled in October 2020.

The Maruti’s upcoming mid-sized SUV will be produced at the Toyota’s Bidadi plant which is scheduled to be launched in 2021-22.

Quote:
the new-gen Vitara will grow in size and will measure somewhere around 4.2 meters in length. However, the India-spec model will be around 4.3 meters long. Maruti Suzuki engineers are likely to tweak the platform to offer increased ground clearance, and wheel base should be around 2.6 to 2.7 meters from the current 2.5 meters
Quote:
Maruti’s version of the next-gen Vitara is most likely to be offered in 5-and 7-seat options.
Quote:
The India-spec model could receive a BSVI compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine as Maruti Suzuki is planning to re-introduce this engine in some of its expensive cars in India. The SUV could also receive the 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that produces 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. Maruti Suzuki is also reportedly working on an all-new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with power output close to 120bhp.
Toyota will also have its own version of this SUV.

Modernizing the original Vitara design , and giving it a retuned 1.5 L diesel will do wonders instead of bringing this confused specimen to market

So the new Creta rival being jointly developed by Maruti and Toyota is just the next gen Vitara?

Well, not complaining as long as it has a diesel or proper petrol hybrid version.

The SUV could be brought into the country to test components for the upcoming fifth generation but we do not know the details yet. Currently, the Vitara derives power from a 1.4-litre Boosterjet four-cylinder K14D turbocharged petrol engine .

This model is sold as the Vitara alongside the Grand Vitara outside India for the past few years.

Looks like they have given the international model a few tweaks to launch it in India.

A new generation of the Global Vitara is due in late 2021. The NEW Vitara will launch in 2022.

Re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

So international S-Cross is India's Grand Vitara? Which means the internal Grand Vitara won't be launched in India and S-Cross is gonna be killed?

IMO MS should have launched both the S-Cross and Grand Vitara and served different buyers. A lost opportunity but maybe Suzuki would have done it if they had good engine options to choose from. Putting the same 1.5 K series in both S-Cross and Grand Vitara would be boring.

Re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

The international S Cross is not the Indian Grand Vitara. Please compare International S Cross profile with Hyryder. They have a family resemblance but are not the same. The Indian Grand Vitara will have same silhouette as Hyryder.

Another Suzuki Vitara / new-variant spotted.

Came across this Suzuki 'Vitara' being tested on NH8 while going towards Delhi.

There were 3-4 Japanese citizens sitting in the car, not sure whether they were Suzuki officials or technicians

As soon as they saw me clicking photos, they tried to evade and over accelerate

Off-topic - The car is looker

re: Another Suzuki Vitara / new-variant spotted.

This will be nice. Perhaps this is the actual successor to the void left behind by the original and impeccable Suzuki Grand Vitara. That Grand Vitara was early to this market. Now the market has matured and the chaps at Suzuki India probably think it is ready for a product of this kind in the premium family SUV segment. This vehicle if launched here will definitely give the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, XUV700 and Scorpio N etc a good run for their money.
