Re: 2019 Suzuki Vitara spotted in India

This current-gen Vitara was spotted last year as well. Vitara Hybrid will come but not on this body style, an all-new model from what I understand.

This could be a component testing mule.

Re: 2019 Suzuki Vitara spotted in India

In this era of camouflaging even a minor bumper / grill change, this complete exposure of the body panels only means that the car won't come as it is in India.

With "SUV"ish Ertiga Cross in pipeline, we can't expect a bigger "SUV" from Suzuki in near future.

This is some engine / technology testing for sure. They are doing a similar thing with the Wagon-R EV also.

Re: 2019 Suzuki Vitara spotted in India

Wouldn't the new GV match the S Cross for size? In that case, there would be some cannibalism, wouldn't there?

Or is MS pulling the plug on the S Cross once BS 6 kicks in?

GV is rumored to come in as a 7 Seater and thus will not cannibalize S Cross.

Re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

Wish Maruti replaces the S-Cross with this (at the same price).

Im been a fan of the Suzuki Vitara and the Grand Vitara before it. The current gen Vitara has gotten very good reviews abroad for being a no nonsense efficient & reliable vehicle. I've watched several comparo videos where it goes up against newer cars with better interiors and gizmos but still ends up being reviewed favourably.

This current gen Vitara is only offered with petrol engines (1.0 Boosterjet and 1.4 Boosterjet). Im looking at replacement for my aging Linea soon and I've been following the Kia Seltos thread closely. BUT i'd anyday pickup a Vitara - So hoping Maruti does launch this soon (Instead of some Ertiga Cross).

OR, This gets launched as a rebadged Toyota. I'm fine either ways. Please keep the price realistic and no Hyundai Creta levels. The Creta is seriously overpriced.

Re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

Maruti Suzuki is also working on an all-new premium SUV, which will be positioned above the Vitara Brezza.
Quote:
The new model is expected to make debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo in a concept form. It will also preview the Suzuki’s next-gen Vitara SUV. The new SUV is expected to be offered in 5 and 7-seat layout.
Quote:
rumoured to be working on an all-new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is expected to be more powerful and torquier than the current 1.5-litre K15B unit. The new premium model will come equipped with this powertrain.

Re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

Suzuki Vitara coming to India, powered by the 1.4L boosterjet engine?

Quote:
As for the platform, it will improve the comfort and dynamics by increasing the overall length, overall width, and overall height by making improvements while continuing the monocoque structure as in the current case.
Specifically, the total length is 4,200 mm (+25 mm) x the total width is 1,780 mm (+5 mm) x the total height is 1,620 mm (+10 mm), the wheelbase is unchanged 2,500 mm, but the body weight seems to be finished as much as possible is.
Quote:
it will be equipped with a 1.4L inline 4-cylinder direct injection turbo engine that has the same displacement as the current one, and will exhibit a maximum output of 136ps / a maximum torque of 210Nm, but maybe a mild hybrid will be installed in the future Like the Swift Sport / Esucudo / SX4 Cross for the European market,

That rear view hurts to even look at ! The old Vitara was so much more under-stated. Looks like Suzuki has taken a lot of inspiration from Honda CSUV siblings there.

Re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

New Vitara rumoured is to be launching in Japan this October.

Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India-20200210_suzuki.jpg

The body size of the new "Escudo" with the improved monocoque structure is 4,200 mm (+25 mm) x 1,780 mm (+5 mm) in width x 1,620 mm (+10 mm) in height, and the wheelbase will remain unchanged at 2,500 mm.

Quote:
it is expected that the monocoque chassis will be further improved to improve the body rigidity and reduce the weight and improve the overall quality.
Quote:
it will be equipped with a displacement of 1.4L in-line 4-cylinder direct injection turbo engine, which is the same as the current one, and will deliver maximum output of 136ps / maximum torque of 210Nm, but possibly a mild hybrid as seen in the Swift, S Cross in the Eu market

Looks too busy and confusing compared to the simple lines of the outgoing car.

Any news if this will be shared with Toyota as well? The new front end seems like it can take the Toyota badge too.

Re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

Suzuki's bigger cars were never good looking and I may add Vitara to that list. If you take a look at Suzuki XL7 sold overseas we will know how ugly they are.

This looks too soft kind of thing, somehow not able to digest this design. It has lost the robustness. The lines are curvy and so is the roofline.

I guess you're talking about the previous XL7 which was 7 seat variant of Vitara and not the current XL7 sold in Indonesia which is a 7 seat variant of XL6 sold here.
