It is bigger, longer, has fulltime 4WD and will be twice as expensive as Brezza. But if they bring the silly 2WD version, then it will be like a S-Cross.

I had up close look at this car in Toyota Motor Show back in 2015. Been wishing it will come to India since then.

Thanks. The full time 4WD looks promising, as there is very few rivals. The common customer may not appreciate the extra 6 inches of length I feel. And if it’s gonna be price at twice the price point of Brezza, they better spec it up properly. Still unconvinced about the chances for this. But I think your Grand Vitara has found a worthy replacement!

That's what I thought when I sat inside the car at the Tokyo Motor Show... but 3+ years have passed by and Maruti had shown no sign of bringing it to India. May be it will change now.

If this piece of news is correct, then waiting game persists for my brother's Ritz replacement.

re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

Not sure whether naming the Brezza after the "Vitara" tag and making it look like the bigger Vitara were wise moves or not. IMO, even without the "Vitara" tag or the Vitara resemblance, it would have sold almost the same numbers.

They should have designed the Brezza with a slightly different front profile which won't resemble the international Vitara, and come with just the "Brezza" brand name. This way, the international Vitara would have become a unique one here. Now, it is not the case.

I still believe that it is not the international Vitara, but an elongated Brezza that will come in the 7-seat configuration. The international Vitara with a length of 4160mm can't accommodate 7 seats, IMO. And with 5 seats, it won't offer much in terms of space compared to Brezza. What Maruti needs in the SUV space currently is not another car to compete with the Brezza, but a car to fight it out with Creta. A 7-seater SUV in the Creta price range would be the ideal one.

Can you please tell which app is this?

The 'popularity' column had me in splits.

The app can be found out on Google Play Store as RTO and Parivahan Vehicle Registration.

Seems to be running the 1.6 Multijet (D16AA), not a new Suzuki 1.5.

I was waiting for the Vitara launch, but went for the S-Cross after it was not even showcased in this Auto Expo. Even if it comes, it will probably take a year or two (next gen?)

re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

Interesting. I will not be surprised if Maruti positions this against Jeep Compass. Sans the 4WD, this could very well compete against Hyundai Creta. In the current avatar, Vitera looks more civilized than the S-Cross. But I'm keen how the car would turn out after all the customary "marutification" for Indian market.

re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

Launching this in India will just leave the potential buyers of Vitara confused. The common man who desires for a SUV/crossover will now have two Vitaras: The Suzuki Vitara and the Vitara Brezza. Not all car buyers are enthusiasts. In fact the majority aren't. And for this section of people "kinta deti hain" is often the main concern. For such price conscious buyers I still see the Brezza taking the major share of sales.

I feel Maruti should just kill the Brezza and launch this in two variants: one that is the Suzuki version(4X4 and no cost cutting for India) and the other to compensate for the Brezza at a lower price point. The Brezza has already got its share of fans. This Vitara will simply take it to the next level.

Why confusion ? They may never even overlap in terms of pricing. Vitara might sit on top of S-Cross(or replace it). Brezza competes with the likes of EcoSport and Nexon and was never a threat for Creta/Duster. May be they might drop Vitara from the Brezza, like they did to Dzire(swift)

I really wish they do. I keep getting calls from my local Maruti workshop every 6 months, to bring my Brezza for service.

Hope they don't replace parts with that of Brezza too !!
Especially Brezza < Vitara < Grand Vitara

No offense to Brezza owners, the car sells well. If i am in the market for a sub 4m car today, this might fit the bill perfectly. All they need is to bring petrol(and automatics)
