Phenomenal Product and what a Competetive pricing. Got to say it, Skoda has done a "Superb" job over here. What's also nice is the fact that they haven't skipped on many features for the Indian version and have gone ahead to offer us the L&K as well!
This product can sell in great numbers provided Skoda improves their service support. I know there are so many ex-Superb owners who are so horrified that they would not even like to look at any Skoda car as an option. Just like they have managed to price it well, if they seriously consider India as an important market, it's important that they practice better control on their dealerships.

There is nothing left to say about the car, it's truly next class. No doubt it is nominated for World Car of the Year.

The car seems to be very well spec'd, even in the Style variant. Found the ground clearance odd though, the GC of the TSI is 166mm while for the TDI its 149mm - wonder why the significant difference? 149mm seems low for our roads.

Is the DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control) there in the L&K ?

If not they have fooled the Indian audience

I think the specs mentioned in the official leaflets and brochures should be correct. So 1.8TSI MT would have 320 Nm of twisting force and the 7-speed DSG version capped off at 250 Nm. The story is similar with the Polo 1.8 GTI in euro markets, which has higher torque output for the MT compared to the DSG versions.

So enthusiast choice should be the 1.8TSI MT or the 177bhp diesel. To be fair, the 6-speed DSG (DQ250s) are much more reliable than the 7-speed ones (DQ200) and shouldn't deter one making the choice of buying the diesel.

Personally, happy that there wasn't anyone bonkers in the Skoda India camp who thought of bringing in the 2.0TSI 280PS 4x4 (like they brought in the 3.6FSI 4x4 earlier)

I think the Style variant makes a good case for itself and stands up well against L&K. The only random part is the lower torque rating for TSI Automatic as else TSI Automatic Style would have made for a most delicious variant.

The DCC is not a standard fitment on the L&K or any other variant even in the markets where it is offered. It is available only as an option.

When you drive the new Superb, you'll realise that the DCC doesn't really help improve handling all that much and the stock suspension is quite competent in handling the car except in extreme handling manoeuvers where it brings in marginally better handling.

There are quite a lot of other options that are available overseas in addition to DCC that aren't being offered here.

was just about to mention the exact same points.

Other than the boss button and 3 zone climate control - I really don't think there is any significant difference between the two models.
Maybe the canton music system - but then I highly doubt that it's worth shelling out close to 3 lacs more.
The ventilated front seats are of no use to the chauffeur driven owner sitting at the back seat. And powered passenger side seats just delay the process of shifting the seat ahead for the boss.
Though I really wonder how much of a difference cost wise would it have made them if they had kept the MID common for both the variants?

Ok i understand that the Superb is a competent handler even without the DCC.

BUT then what is this Drive Mode Select;

I believe they are referring the ability to choose driving modes that basically only alter between behaviour/response of the engine,DSG, power steering minus the suspension (referring from the links below)

Website updated with all details including price. Surprised to note that the ex showroom Bangalore is 80-90K higher than Mumbai. Understand the OTR differences due to the tax rates, What makes the Ex-Showroom difference so high?

Drive Mode Select is not the same as DCC.

Drive Mode Select has options of Normal, Sport, Eco etc that alters engine torque, accelerator sensitivity (was available in some models of A4 3.2FSI too where pressing the accelerator 20% gave you a 35% response), power steering, DSG transmission responses etc.

There are no changes to suspension behaviour which is the main difference in DCC.

Initially I assumed this is probably because of transport charges to Bangalore / Delhi (where the prices are the same), however I believe their pricing module is incorrect, it shows a price of INR 25.6 lakhs for the TSI AT Style in Pune! That's insane.

Also, seems to me Skoda is charging a pretty hefty premium for the diesel, with a price differential of ~ INR 2.50 lakhs. Despite the larger engine, given similar features not sure how many people are going to go for the diesel, especially given the lack of a MT option.

Difference in EX showroom price in different states is because of difference in VAT rates and transportation. VAT rate in Karnataka is 14.50% whereas in Maharashtra I believe it is 12.50%. 2% on 25L is about 50K.

I always wonder about cars prized above 25-30 Lac. With small budget cars, one can understand if you are selling them in different variants like Lxi, Vxi, Zxi, Magna, Asta etc. But when it comes to high end cars do we really need different variants which have differences mainly in accessories? I can understand different engines prized differently, but when someone is ready to pay this much amount, why can't they get common set of accessories?

I find the Manual TSI Style variant a great package especially for us old school petrolheads. It gets a great bump in torque to 320Nm compared to the 250Nm of the AT TSI. Maybe due to the fact of the problematic history of the 7 speed AT which cannot handle more than 250 Nm.

What the 'Style' misses out compared to the 'L&K' -

* A different style of the 17" alloy wheel. Size remains same.
* Some inscriptions of 'L&K' compared to plain 'Superb'
* Slightly different colored decor - Dark Brushed vs Piano Black on L&K
* 3 colored ambient lighting strip
* Plain Leather vs Perforated seats
* Seat Air Conditioning
* 2 Zone climate control instead of 3
* Warning indicators only on Front Doors instead of all 4
* Fatigue Detection
* Remote Opening and Closing of Boot Lid along with Wave function (quite good on L&K)
* Unpowered Passenger Seat (This is a grave miss as even my 2012 model Superb has both powered front seats)
* 8 speakers compared to 12
* Tyre Pressure Monitoring system (!! 2012 models have it)
* Monochrome vs Color Maxidot Display
* Boss Button to move front seats from rear
* Drive Mode select button

Overall even the Style Variant is loaded to the gill imho. Good job Skoda. Now only 'IF' your service was as great as you 'claim'. It's deteriorated coming from a loyal Skoda customer and fan.
