Re: The 2017 Force Gurkha

Looks nice. How many of these are "legal" in RTO's eyes? How many of these need "RC Endorsement"?
Force Motors, now can you work on the dashboard please?

Re: The 2017 Force Gurkha

The vehicle appears delectable in flesh and those accessories are just to pick and choose from. The black one with minimal accessories look attractive. As many of you have echoed here, they could have just added an ABS and perked up the power to a respectable 100+BHP and a decent 300+NM of torque. To an extreme offroad enthusiast, this rendering could still be a delightful proposition
Pictures of the 2017 model Gurkha Explorer are from NM&Co, Force Motors showroom at Coimbatore.

Welcome to the party my friend. As they say, better late than never. Views/Suggestions already shared at time of launch. For a vehicle that costs 10 lakhs on the road, these are the requirements:

1) Better/Proper dashboard, IP Cluster, and console and not the one made by a tinker's grandson.

2) Up the engine power to 100bhp / 26 kgm Torque. This should be easily possible from a 2.6 CRD DI engine which has it's origins in the famed Mercedes OM616 engine. If Force engineers are not capable of doing this, Force Motors can engage the consulting firm AVL which help design the first 2.6 SZ engine and the 2.2 mhawk for Mahindra and the 2.2 DICOR for Tata.

3) Add atleast ABS as a safety feature, and if possible air bags.

The above 3 changes, will make it a better vehicle than the Thar CRDe.

Went through all of the reviews. Noticed in two of the reviews that ABS is offered as an option by Force motors.

Waiting for the official Team-BHP review for more details.

I too noticed the mention ABS. However, the neither the brochure or the website has any mention of it. Keep our fingers crossed and hope they will offer this.

If FM2.2 is launched, it will be a big step in the right direction. If the power train is good, I don't mind fabricating my own dashboard like we used to do with Hindustan Ambassador back in the day.

Yes, it is mentioned nowhere, but I hope it is true.

I have another doubt. How the different seating configuration is achieved in 3 door explorer?

As per the website, there are three seating options available for 3 door model: 4+D, 5+D and 7+D. Does this mean length of the side benches are different in 5+D and 7+D?

Re: The 2017 Force Gurkha

Gurkha Xplorer (5 door) variant price uploaded in the website today as INR 1,148,017.00/- (Ex showroom)

While the Xplorer (3 door) variant post GST price in Maharastra which was already available is INR 909, 595.00/- (Ex showroom)

Can anybody explain the reason for difference of over 2 lacs. Is it because the 5 door model may be equipped with 2.2 fmtech engine.

Possible cause I recall reading in one of the Gurkha threads that the 2.2 was going to come in the explorer 5 door first and then only make it's way into the other models.

11.5 Lakhs for Gurkha 5 door just with a powertrain update would be a weird move.

4x2 Xpedition 5 door - 8.37 lakh
4x4 Xplorer 3 door - 9.23 lakh.

So the proposed Xplorer 5 door is at a 2.2 lakh premium over Xplorer 3-door and a 3.10 Lakh premium over 4x2 5 door. For a comparison, M&M Scorpio S4+ 4WD is priced at 12.37.

Unless Force updates its interiors, dashboard in particular, add ABS and airbags besides the engine update, it's going to be yet another sales dud, especially considering the fact that this 5 door Xplorer is aimed at genuine auto enthusiasts.

4+D = 2 bucket seats in front + one bench at back.
5+D = 2 bench seats both front & back.
7+D = 2 bucket seats + 2 side facing bench seats.

If 5+D = 2 bench seats in both front and back, how the gear levers ( normal and low range) and differential locks would be placed?
