Random Thoughts

My first car number is 0682 and wanted to either 0682 or 0683 for my Bolero to maintain a series. But I needed to pay 5K for that which I thought was absolutely useless.

OT: All those who pay obscene amounts to get a particular number also change their names or add alphabets towards their numerological beliefs.

it is not a question of series. it is the question of vip and fancy numbers

WOW people here actually do give a damn about VIP numbers.

Have had all my cars in VIP numbers ever since i can remember
which included my first Safari with the number plate 100 and indigo with the number plate 10

and now includes the following
Skoda Laura - 1
Optra - 2
Optra Magnum - 6390 (on my younger brothers special request which signifies his birthday 6th march 1990)

One more to come soon.

This question is for all those people who have paid quite huge sums to get a VIP number and sold their cars. I would like to know the amount of premuim (in % terms at least) that these cars have been able to command. Also were people keen on buying the car simply because of the VIP number. Lastly was the money paid to get the no worth it?

IMO, paying good money for just some number is rubbish. People who change spellings of their names also probably get some weird numbers for their vehicles. What's the point?

Of course the RTOs have found this to be a smart source of revenue. Good for them!

7.26 lakhs for a fancy number!!!

KL-01-AX-01 number auctioned yesterday at Trivandrum RTO for 7.26 lakhs. It was for an Audi. This is the highest auction amount in Kerala for a fancy number. Around 10 people were present for the auction.

KL-01-AX-09,08,07 are for auction coming week and 50 guys already registered for these numbers.

Are keralites so much crazy about fancy numbers!!

I had single number on my Hyundai Accent bought sometime in 2004.
The Number was '6' (in Chennai). I had to pay Rs.25000 for this single number and the allotment letter comes from the Transport ministry. One has to buy a car and register in this number within 3 months from the date of number allotment, otherwise you will lose the number and money.
I dont know what is present proceedure and rate to get a single number in chennai?

@nairrk - Last i heard was if the number of choice is from the current running series, its 15k. If it is a new series its 25k.

This could be wrong, as I last checked this quite a while ago.
