2019 Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift Expected To Get Rs. 20,000 Price Hike

2019 Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift is expected to get several new standard features including projector headlamps with DRLs Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is starting off the New Year with a big launch as the new generation Wagon R with India-specific exterior and interior changes is scheduled to debut on January 23. Like brands such as Hyundai, Honda, Ford, Toyota, VW, Skoda and Renault, Maruti Suzuki will also be increasing prices across the portfolio from January 1, 2019 due to various economic reasons.

The largest carmaker in the country will be silently introducing the facelifted version of the Baleno premium hatchback in the first month of the year as well. The changes won’t be substantial as minor cosmetic changes like the revised bumper is expected to be accompanied by some standardised features like projector headlamps and LED Daytime Running Lights.

The price hike on the Baleno range will likely be around Rs. 20,000 and to offset the increase more standard features could be included. Moreover, the updated Baleno may get more safety kit under its belt including standard reverse parking sensors, high speed warning system and speed sensing auto door lock to comply with the upcoming government regulations.

Well, irrespective of what the face-lift looks like, I guess this is a strategy by MSIL to keep the Baleno fresh for the year 2019 and not lose out on sales because of the upcoming BSVI norms.

This strategy should keep the sales going on until late 2019/early 2020, before selling the BSVI cars next year. Other than this i do not see a need for facelift launch in Jan 19.

The 2019 Maruti Baleno facelift will continue with its current engines but will have an updated features list and a revised styling to make sure people stay interested in this three-year-old model. Like the current car, the refreshed version will continue to be sold through the Nexa outlets and will be available in four trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.

However, unlike the current version, where projector headlamps are available only on the Alpha variant, the 2019 Maruti Baleno facelift will get this feature even on the lower variants. The headlamp unit on the refreshed car will be the same smoke-effect version that can be found on the Baleno RS. Other than this, the interior is expected to gain some features that will make the car an even more premium offering.

Looks like the Baleno has been Ciaz-ed. Those black inserts in the bumpers give its a familiar look. Giving projectors in lower variants is a welcome addition. I hope the Alpha trim gets those black alloys from the RS version. They look good with certain colours. Baleno is already a very feature rich car, not sure what additional Maruti will give. May be cruise control? Expecting 6 airbags would be too wishful IMO.

As per Gaadiwaadi reports, facelift has been launched. Only a minor facelift, limited to exterior changes. More details below:

2019 Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift Priced From Rs. 5.41 Lakh

2019 facelifted Maruti Suzuki Baleno comes with minor exterior changes while the powertrain options remain the same, deliveries from next month.
The entry-level Sigma petrol with Rs. 3,500 price hike now costs Rs. 5.41 lakh while the base Sigma diesel is priced at Rs. 6.54 lakh after becoming Rs. 3,500 dearer. Looking at the overall price hikes, all the Sigma and Alpha variants of Baleno have witnessed Rs. 3,500 increase.
The additional features in the facelifted Baleno are base Sigma getting reverse parking sensors as standard along with speed alert feature while Delta and Zeta gain LED projector headlamps replacing the HID projectors from RS variant. No performance changes have been made as the 1.2-litre K series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel continue to be at the helm.

2019 Maruti Baleno facelift Bookings open for the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno at NEXA showrooms ahead of launch end of this month on January 29.



Spy shots reveal a new front fascia, refreshed front and rear bumper design and an updated front grille. It also receives new fog lamp housing, LED projector headlamp unit, machine finished alloy wheels and new LED tail lamps.

Interiors of 2019 Baleno facelift will also be revamped. It will be seen with revised seats, added safety features to meet Bharat NCAP norms. These include speed alert system, seat belt warning, parking sensors. It also gets automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers and cruise control. Dual airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts and ABS will be offered as standard across all variants.

Is it Delta that has got a projector or is it a Zeta which has got a projector with deleted fog-lamps? Because if Delta gets a projector setup, Zeta has to get it by default.

That's Delta in the pics which gets Projectors. Zeta has alloys, fogs, chrome door handles and window line chrome garnish too IIRC. Or if your theory is considered, then Zeta would have to loose alloys and other things too, which I think won't be the case, given Nexa's feature distribution in other cars.

More on the Baleno face-lift :

-2019 Baleno will get LED projector headlamps - will gain LED projector headlamps from Delta variant onwards.

-Lower variants will get a new 2-DIN infotainment system with electrostatic touch buttons. New Ertiga-like 2-DIN music system with electrostatic touch buttons

-Alloy wheels will be machine-finished now-The alloy wheels will get a black-silver dual-tone finish.

-UV-cut glass won’t be a standard fitment - available in Alpha variant only

-Parking sensors will be standard

-LED DRLs in Alpha variant, LED light guide in lower variants.

- Black-blue seats: The seat on the updated Baleno, at least on the top variant, will get a dual-tone black-blue finish. Expect the black-blue combination elsewhere as well, like on the door pads.

-Darker silver/grey accents around auto AC controls and AC vents

-Leather-wrapped steering in Alpha variant only

-SmartPlay Studio: The Baleno facelift will get the updated SmartPlay Studio infotainment system

So, from the facelift these are the below changes.

a) Delta gains LED projector headlights without DRL strip
b) Zeta gains the same headlights mentioned above, but looses Leather wrapped steering wheel and UV cut glasses
c) Alpha variant gets upgraded to LED projector headlights with LED strip from existing HID projectors.

Not necessarily. It could also mean cost cutting. I remember that the Bosch system when launched was priced around 80K. That did reduce to 57K after a couple of years. This system looks like a cheap android unit. But final comments only after looking at it.
