Tata H2X Micro SUV
Cartoq Render

Quote:
H2X concept based micro SUV will be launched by mid-2020 and rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100 in the micro SUV/crossover segment.
According to Tata, the H2X concept heavily borrows design cues from the H5X concept.

The H2X render here looks bigger than it really is and that’s because of its squarish design, butch front fascia and high ground clearance. The tri arrow design at the front has been replaced by functional headlights while the drool-worthy wheels from the concept have given way to regular multi-spoke alloys.

However, Tata has not revealed any official information over the powertrain options of the SUV. What it has revealed though is the body dimensions of the H2X concept. It measures 3840 mm in length, 1822 mm in width and 1635 mm in height. Also, the concept has a wheelbase of 2450 mm.

Going by Tata’s vision, the Hornbill micro SUV will target the customers who lead an active lifestyle and want a practical, comfortable yet versatile and power packed vehicle.

Tata H2X promises to be a huge success.
There is enormous potential in the micro SUV segment which is the reason for the success of Kwid, the lifesaver for Renault in India.
SUVs is the most emerging trend worldwide.
World giants like Ford and GM have shifted focus from Sedans, on to SUVs.

Wish Tata all the best.
Hope they come up with an Ace product and design and storm the segment.

re: The Tata Punch (aka Hornbill) Compact SUV

The Hornbill is longer, wider and taller than the Ignis and the KUV100 (same height). The wheel base is marginally higher too which should make it more comfortable for passengers.

I think the GC would be in the range of 180-185mm. Should make for a comfortable 4 seater with an adequate boot. A mini-Harrier like the XUV300 and XUV500, albeit smaller (micro-Harrier?)

Its so important in this Digital age, that some things are still 'touched' by hand. I salute and admire our @TataMotors Global Design Clay modelling team for translating the vision of designers into real automotive sculpture Incredible part of the creative process.

Feels good to see the clay models, though the first one is that of the Altroz!

No matter how good the design team is, these micro “SUVs” can never look proportionate.

I hope this is a passing fad and the market will revert to normalcy soon. These things look so ugly.

Re: Rumour: 7-seater Tata Harrier to be launched by end-2019

Autocar interviews Pratap Bose - VP Global Design TML at the Geneva motor show.

Key takeaways:
- Will be less than 3.9m in length and sit below the Nexon
- Looking to create a new segment targeted towards the millenials
- Highly digital instrument cluster with minimal hard-buttons
- Will feature voice commands (a segment first?)
- Production model will be very close to the concept including the interior space, barring the width
- Hints at being crash worthy (a 5 star GNCAP hopeful)

I doubt it :(. Not just the proportions, but even the styling. The new models may have more power, more sophistication, etc, but I am starting to look away from these new models - including the Harrier. I miss the old clean simple lines. At this time, my thoughts seem to be looking at holding on to the Storme. Not that I am looking to replace it.

Looks like they took the Kwid that's sold abroad and just snapped a Tata face on it. I think the final model will be more upright than this rendering.

re: The Tata Punch (aka Hornbill) Compact SUV

Being a Tata owner and having driven most of their current lineup of cars, I sincerely hope they give more "kick" to the way the engine delivers power, either the gearing is too tall or power delivery is too linear and dull at the top.

If this car is going to have an 1.2 NA petrol and weighs more than a Ton, then its a big no no from me!

re: The Tata Punch (aka Hornbill) Compact SUV

The renderings look good. But the fake bash plate makes for a very busy front end. Hopefully the design is proportionate and not abruptly cut-off to accommodate in under 4 meters. An automatic version during the launch itself would make this a good city run about.
