4.5 L ex-showroom... They're practically throwing it away free. Wonder what would be the trim levels?

4.5 lakhs? That is probably ex-factory, ex-gurgaon price for the base, no frills model (equal to the LXi).

That would translate into a Mumbai ex-showroom price of about 5 lakhs, and on-road for about 5.3 - 5.4 lakhs. Which is comparable to the top-of-the-line VXI model here.

So for the better equipped Swift D, I guess that price would creep up above 6 lakhs, which is pushing it for a car with the interior space of the Swift.

But this is all guesswork. Lets wait for the official Maruti release.

At that price, the trim levels are going to be extremely sparse and just hope that the body complaints that petrol version is resolved...or they made it worse to cut the price

somebody who saw the car post a pic of the new diesel?

Lower Excise Duty = Competitive Price

The competitive price is attributable in part to the concessional 16% excise duty the diesel Swift enjoys, something the petrol Swift isn't entitled to, being over 1200 CC.

the swift diesel promises to start a new trend....sporty yet efficient, small diesel cars. With Hyundai and Fiat lining up diesel launches, the buying public is in for a treat...

Pete's...how about a tuning box for the Swift DDiS..is that wat its called?!

Metallic Irridium Gold is another new color of Swift. I read in news paper Deccan Herald, blre MUL is all set to launch Swift Diesel very soon so should be in 1 week we can see Swift Diesel in showrooms.

They mentioned it comes in 3 variants just 30,000 Rs costlier than corresponding Petrol version. So thats good news for sure If Swift LXI costs 4.3 lacs as ex showroom price.

It can give tough compitetion to Indica for sure. Many predicted since Swift Diesel will be most fuel efficient (At least 18+kmpl in city driving conditions...) Diesel car it should capture Taxi segment... Its supposed to very very very quiet and smooth compared with other Diesel Cars, It uses most advanced CRDi technology. So its going to create wave for sure in 2007 in its Segment.

This may be the Car of the Year 2008!!

Regards,

Ravi.
