Oh come on man! Out of all those photos above only the last two of them are skewed and give that awkward shape. Do you really think they would mess up with the proportions after learnings from Xylo and KUV 100? It looks very proportionate in rest of the photographs above. Stay positive.

Damn! This thing screams BUTCH when viewed head on! I'm kind of a sucker for boxy butch SUVs. And this Scorpio reminds me of the Safari of yesteryears. In fact it has got a silhouette that is worthy of the Safari nameplate than even the new Safari. I hope Mahindra stay away from their quirky design bits and integrate that boot in an inconspicuous manner. Would love to see the new Scorpio in a 4x4 AT avatar. Could be the poor man's Landcruiser Prado

re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Today I saw two test mule Scorpios drive past me. And I could follow them for 150 m in my car. Overall the stance of the new vehicle is much better than the old. It seemed a bit wider and had lesser height as compared to the existing model.
So it looks like driving dynamics will be much better.

Scorpio spotted with production spec alloy wheels. From the side it looks as imposing as a Fortuner/Endeavour

re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Looking at the pictures, I get the feeling new Scorpio will move a segment above XUV500. It could work too. Scorpio is a bigger brand than XUV500 and if it comes with whole suite of airbags, 4x4 and AT, Mahindra can place it as an Alturas replacement. A body on frame full seven seater with 4x4 and automatic for 30 odd lakhs could be a good alternative to Fortuner and Endeavour. Let the XUV500 fight it out with the FWD raised hatchbacks and use Scorpio to fight it out with the real SUVs.

Even after launching cars like Marazzo, XUV300, Thar and XUV500, Bolero and Scorpio are still Mahindra's best sellers. Scorpio consistently does 4000 units a month. I do not think they will move two segments above in pricing. It will make the car unaffordable for most. Also, it is a much smaller car than Fortuner/Endeavor, less than 4.5 metres long. Looking at the spy shots, I do not expect any significant change in length.

While I agree with this, I do think they will move the New Scoprio to XUV segment and the New XUV to straddle current and next segment by stripping down the base model. Given that its Mahindra, they might even continue to sell the existing Scoprio just to ensure that there is an affordable one for the junta.

This will be a price difference of around Rs 2L over the current Scorpio. Considering the new feature additions, platform, I think it very well deserves the premium. Also, Scorpio is literally a cult here in Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab. People are still buying the old gen. They will pay more very happily.

Almost as?

Check the photos shared earlier. It makes the 1st Generation Toyota Fortuner look like a dwarf!

So, no panoramic sunroof. When would these guys learn? They made a new gen ground up and left out a feature which is the single biggest reason for new gen Creta's success. Look how far back Creta has left its cousin Seltos. Creta is the cheapest car you can buy in India with a panoramic sunroof. The trouble with our desi boys (Tata/Mahindra) is they always manage to throw in more screw-ups than successes.

I'm guessing this is exactly their strategy. If you want a Pano sun roof, spend more for the XUV 500. Brands are making it a flagship feature.

Same for the Creta, Seltos being released while new Creta was in the pipeline made them make it a Creta specific feature. Now that they've capitalized on that, the Seltos with Sunroof should launch soon with next facelift.

Current Scorpio is taller than all of them, quicker to the 100 kmph as well.
