Skoda's NEW PREMIUM Sedan will likely follow the same launch process as the Kushaq:

- Naming / Unveil in concept / Unveil of proto/ Camouflaged media drive/ Prouction form unveil and finally the Launch.

Concept could also be shown at the 2022 Auto Expo.

Expect the process to start in late 2021 and the launch in Q1/2 2022.

Skoda Rapid will exist in its current segment.

It will be interesting to see how Skoda would position this new sedan & what will be its USP considering everything Skoda cars are good with i.e. driving dynamics, powertrains will be covered by current Rapid & hopefully enhanced with the upcoming Kushaq & Octavia across wide price range (8 to 20 Lakhs).

Very interesting to see where Skoda India is going. I see myself turning into a Skoda customer from my current status as a loyal VW customer. VW in India seems to have become somewhat complacent and lazy, if you will, in the past couple of years. I remember back in the day VW had a buzz and excitement to the way they were doing things, launching the legendary GT and then even experimenting with models such as the GTI. Wonder where that enthusiasm has gone.

I remember a BHPian saying that "Skoda has taken the helm with the turn of this decade" and this is becoming more evident with the days passing. The market too seems to be sharing this sentiment, the local VW showroom in my area has halved their size whereas the Skoda showroom has taken a new facility with around 25-30% more space.

Looking forward to all these new brand offerings by Skoda!

As an owner of Skoda Rapid (2016 not the facelift) I am jealous since look n feel has changed a lot and specs too. I love every thing about Skoda as a car manufacture except the service centres which I feel is worst.

Hopefully with more Skoda cars hitting Indian roads we could have more multi-brand car servicing options.

Yes very much higher in pricing as it will be a Premium sedan and a segment higher

Understand it will come in only 1.0L TSI MT and AT configurations.

So will this occupy the D1 segment along with Octavia? 2 D1 Sedans at a time when D1 Sedan is a dying breed, Interesting!

It does sound weird but I think the name has its roots in the very old and one of the most famous football clubs in Prague. They are known as Slavia Praha or SK Slavia Praha. Probably a football connection to the name, some fan in the Skoda hierarchy,

It actually has a much more historical meaning attached to it. Vaclav Laurin and Vaclav Klement (founders of Skoda) used to collaboratively develop bicycles under the brand name Slavia. I think that is where the name comes from.

That sounds a more acceptable reason for naming it Slavia. The history of the naming of the brand and the club could be intertwined though.

What do you guys think would be the price range of slavia?
I'm looking to buy a car and my budget is around 15-17 lakhs , should I wait for the slavia ?

It is bound to be priced a segment higher than Rapid. So top end will be touching 18-20 in BLR.
