i20 will replace Getz. There were some rumours that Next Gen Elantra will be based on i30 . No proper info on that yet. I heard i30 has been doing well in most of the markets where its launched . Especially the 1.3 Crdi.

OT : Hope Hyundai does launch facelift Accent with this 1.3 CRDI. Then Dzire will surely get some competition.

The car in the second pic looks very much like BMW 3.18d. Hyundai must have done some borrowed thinking on the design i guess

The only way it'll get sold here, if at all, is in a sedan guise. The Elantra space perhaps.

Nopes i do not think i30 is coming to India, if hyundai wanted it here they would have launched it by now.
Their focus is to take the i10 forward along with i20 (which i have read here on the forum)

i30 is a very good car and surprisingly, it has won a lot of awards.

Totally European by Hyundai, even their adverts focus on changing the Hyundai image abroad.

Then again if the likes of Jazz, Grande punto are planned here maybe Hyundai change their mind later.

Personally i think our market is not ready for a car like this.

i30 will not come to India because
it is built to european specs (crash regs etc) and is too expensive for india
there is no production plan for it in india and bringing it in as a CKD wont help the costs. it would cost at least Rs 9-10 lakh in india
At that price level only three-box cars work

i20 is finally here!

According to article above

i10 1.2L - August 2008
i20 - October 2008
i30 - Mid 2009

No news of i10 diesel. Also I am guessing i20 will come with the verna CRDi and an all new petrol engine (?)

ELito

P.S. - This article is also there in todays Economic times Page 4

i30 is already sold in South Korea

i30 is already available in South Korea. However I cannot see i10, i20 and i40 here. i30 look like Getz in length and comfort. May be if Hyundai launch i30, It will be replacement for Getz. I can hardly see two similar segment cars in India for most of the car company, apart from MUL.

Getz is already outdated model in South Korea. Getz sold in South Korea with the name of Click.

Avante is going to replace Elantra here from this month. I don't know why I don't find any thread on Avante. Looks like I lost the privilege to post one as well.

i30, yes, looks really stunning features and dimensions. I always wanted a hatch, shorter than most sedans, but long enough to have a good seating and boot. i30 is the perfect one.

This is what The Managing Director of Hyundai, Mr H.S. Lheem had to say about i30 launch

Quote:
About i30, he said Hyundai Motor India planned to introduce it as a replacement for Elantra. Feasibility studies are on, he said, adding “i30 is a hatchback and in India the response for this model is not encouraging. They like notchback or sedan, especially for the bigger cars.”
