My take is:

Metal waists protect. Glass doesn't!

Speeds aren't reducing any.

The world we live in, cares more for safety, than ever before in the past.

Ergo, waistlines are creeping skyward.

Before launching the car they should localize the parts. Otherwise it will be pricey just like cedia and people will leave it. Let us hope mitsu has learned lessons from cedia failure.

check out this collage i created. i couldn't stop relating the design of this new lancer with two cars esp. one is mazda 6 for the rear design when i see the intro video in their global website.

then the face/grill is just a copy of their galant design itself. even aero styled design juz looks like a 2002/03 model galant in small size to me.

have a look at this:

source: The Alfadana disease spreads!

Also see the similarity to the Lexus IS.

Good find there, Vid. Now, we know where the looks are inspired from. Sgmuser also had it bang on there, as to where the subtle touches came from.

Somehow, most manufacturers seem to be losing the trait called 'Originality'.

why the fuss about copying? most lexus models have copied BMW. Even Toyota camry is highly inspired by Mazda 6. and now they are leading in the market. same with Hyundai.

I find the design of the new lancer to be more in trend with the Nissan GT-R ( not similar in design but same in style of design.) Audi like grilles and retro rears.

I wouldnt be interested in this car if it makes to India. But would go ahead and buy 1 right away if it comes fully loaded for the right price

read that as

CVT
Rockford Fosgate audio
152hp engine
the same alloys

for 12-15 lacs.

[SIZE=2]Inspite of some improvements in financials, Mitsubishi has become a has been in most markets. Although operating losses are now down, company is now speaking of fourth revitalisation plan in seven years!.

Its new launches have hardly been a success, especially in the US market, which gives most of its profits. The Raider midsize pickup has been a me-too product. And the all new 2007 Outlander, the first vehicle to feature Mitsubishi's latest design theme, has been hammered by launches of competitors of new cross/utility vehicles. Mitsubishi Motors sales in US declined from 323,706 in 2001 to 118,558 in 2006.

Now Mitusbishi is planning on the Lancer for some hope, with an all new 9th generation model. The new Lancer is sharper to drive and styled to attract younger car buyers than Civic. However, it is less FE than its rivals. Based on new testing procedures instituted by the US Environmental Protection Agency, the new Lancer gets 22 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. Multiply by 0.425 to get kmpl.

Test driven..

I test drove the 2008 Lancer, hoping to get a good deal on the GTS version.
Its a pretty godo vehicle, though the plactics used seem to be a little cheap. The car handles well, and i loveee the F1 style paddle shifts. Its a pretty good things to use, after the standard stick shift in my Mazda 3.

The sound system was superb, and the 10" subs in the boot were great. It just 152bhp,so nothing great on that front.
Overall its got the looks, and the air dams give it a mean styling.

I was looking to trade-in my 3 for the GTS version..still working on it,coz i got my wife her 1st car yesterday (the 2004 Kia Optima, with leather seats and most of the works)..

As soon as I read about the 2008 Lancer, I went to the USA Mitsubish site and saw it. Ok I take back my words, we do need the Lancer 2008, a 2.0 ltr MIVEC ENGINE DOHC, 150 BHP totall redefined look. Hell yeah we need it. Its awesome, we need cars which can now compete with the Skoda RS.
