MG ZS to get a new name in petrol avatar (codenamed Model K) will be positioned below the Hector and compete with the Hyundai Creta. Slated to launch by Q3 2021.

In terms of powertrains, the Model K range will begin with a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol mill that’s good for 120hp and 150Nm of torque. MG will also have its 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine on offer in the 163hp/230Nm state of tune. This will, effectively, make the ZS the most powerful SUV in its class. For reference, the Creta and Seltos get a 140hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine, while the Kicks and Duster are offered with a 156hp, 1.3-litre turbo-petrol mill.

The upcoming MG will also get manual as well as automatic gearbox options.

I do see quite a lot of ZS's around in Sydney and for the money it is awesome VFM.
The only complaint would be that it doesn't really look that cohesive from the back and reviews about the in-car entertainment are not that flattering.

Seems like they have named it after Nancy Astor, who was the first ever woman to sit in the British House of Commons.
I must really appreciate the kind of research their marketing team actually does to make their cars sound British. Hector, Gloster, And now Astor.

Excellent engine options. If they could price it around creta, wold definitely make volumes.

This is what indian market needed to avoid korean cousins monopoly

Sad that Maruti, Honda, Toyota, Mahindra and Tata also does not want to compete in this segment of ~4300 mm CSUV space.

Currently the space has the below alternatives apart from Creta and Seltos:

Duster - Dated. Renault should bring the bling from Kiger in to Duster
Kicks - Nissan could not get it proper. Magnite customers could jump segment and add some sales
Compass - Very highly priced and only for the exclusivity of JEEP

So true. A friend of mine wants to move on from his Honda City to this segment, with a budget of 15-17 lac. And Seltos/Creta (with its forever waiting list) are the only options worth considering- which is bad from the consumer standpoint. He would prefer not to go into the sub 4m category nor does he have the budget to move upwards. And he is tired of driving around in a low slung sedan for 10 years. He is also thinking of the Taigun/Kushaq but I am not sure if they will be available for 15 lac. So if MG really gets this car going, then there will be some fun in this segment.
