Default Scoop! New Maruti Vitara Brezza coming in Q3 2021

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza received a mid-life update in February last year. Now, we have been told that the carmaker is working on its replacement.

The new Vitara Brezza is said to be codenamed YXA and the launch is expected in the third quarter of 2021. It is also said that domestic parts vendors are already in place, which is a crucial step before local production can begin.

Initially, the new Vitara Brezza will be offered with a BS6-compliant petrol engine only. However, rumours suggest that a BS6-compliant diesel engine could be introduced in 2022.

At present, the Vitara Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 104 BHP and 138 Nm. It comes paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Giant has finally woken up!

With this tentative launch and other potential lineups, Suzuki is really going to bombard the SUV segment, Just look at the line up:

1) Baleno based SUV
2) New Brezza (Might be same as above)
3) S-cross update
4) 5 door Jimny
5) New SUV with Toyota, possibly on Dahitsu platform
6) Grand Vitara 2020 ?

Also, add the new Suzuki-Toyota MPV in the mix, and it seems like a perfect lineup of Indian masses.

Wishlist still open:

1) A smashing Diesel mill
2) More focus on Safety, hope that current gen Brezza was not a fluke

All I want from Maruti is to focus on safety aspect of vehicles.
Give me a new model from Maruti with 4+ stars ratings, active safety features and a top variant with 6 airbags, and I'm ready to pay them a premium even over the existing Hyundais and Kias and Tatas. (Obviously that the other factors are still as reliable)

I wonder what will happen with the Toyota Urban Cruiser then. Presumably - since both are made at the same assembly line, the Urban Cruiser would also automatically get replaced.

This though - would mean the Urban Cruiser in it's 1st generation has a life of just around 1-2 years in the market. Might end up being one of the most short lived generations to be sold here. Most of the investment done in marketing, branding, sales paperwork would basically be rather short-lived in that case. This Toyota-Suzuki partnership is really weird IMO. At least it doesn't appear to be rolled out with long term planning in Indian market.

Off Topic - I really hate our forum's "no car name acronyms" rule in the case of "Urban Cruiser". Rather frustrating to write this name in its entirety.

Hopefully they will continue with the C platform or move to DNGA and not to the infamous Heartect

For a product as important as the Brezza - even if they use the Heartect - they'll christen it something else just for the sake of disconnecting from that platform's bad name in the market.

Considering that even the Ertiga/XL6 are using the HT platform, I don't see why Maruti won't use it for the Brezza. Seems to be rather modular / versatile. It would make tremendous sense to use the same platform for cost savings. With minor modifications to increase safety rating in tests. Should be doable for someone like Suzuki.

Speculating of course. We don't know whether the upcoming one will be more of a development of the same car or an "all new" one.

Next Gen. Vitara Brezza:

All-new Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza could use stronger hybrid tech:

Quote:
While the new Vitara Brezza will carry on using the K series 1.5 petrol engine, Maruti is also expected to ramp up the amount of electrical assistance.
While the system will continue to be a mild-hybrid, Maruti is expected to use a larger battery and a more powerful electric motor, and these should give it greater fuel savings.

Also on the cards is Maruti’s 1.5 diesel engine, which is slated to make a return to the fold after a considerable gap.

It still seems to he mild-hybrid, which is a bummer. Was a good chance to bring "true" hybrids together with Toyota now. Alas.

Whats more interesting to note in that article is this -
Quote:
All-new Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will use Heartect technology
In an effort to enhance safety, the Vitara Brezza will use Heartect technology, where the floor of the monocoque structure is strengthened and engineered with pre-set load paths in mind. This is likely to give the SUV an advantage when it comes to safety. The new architecture is also likely to help give the car an advantage as using a more modern electric and electronic architecture, with a more centralised approach, will allow for easier integration of new systems; stuff like connected tech and advanced safety systems.
For everything else - ACI has used "could" / "may" / "likely" etc. So speculation. But for the platform - there is a categorical "WILL USE". I guess the inevitable just got confirmed about the new Brezza's platform then? Heartect it is!

And the irony is they are saying it is to enhance the safety

Current Brezza has 4 stars. I don't think the new one will achieve that. Still MSIL can say that it complies all the government rules and regulations

All suzuki needs to do is make the new cars Safer and NCAP tested and they would bomb Tata and Hyundai.

Default Scoop! New Maruti Vitara Brezza coming in Q3 2021

I had brought Brezza auto ZXI plus in Jan 2021. I would strongly suggest that you should buy the highest possible variant, and if you live in any metro, please go for automatic only.
Its excellent car in all ways, though some people may differ. Balance of safety, space, price, comfort, design, power etc.
We are loving our initial few months. No negatives.

The only thing you can try is to get Urban Cruiser if possible, at same price or may be 8-10K more. Toyota service is best and they offer three year warranty by default.

These are some of the confirmed facts about the new Brezza:
1) It is not based on the Heartect platform and it is the same platform as current Brezza, S Cross and Global Vitara.
2) There will exist variants with 6 Airbags
3) Although it will still continue to be powered by 1.5L Gasoline engine, there will be some changes in the power train.
4) A 6AT version will exist
5) There will be focus on Connected Tech in the vehicle overall.
6) The interior will be a step up from the current Brezza which are to put it mildly, Spartan. The touch screen display would be larger as well.

Now the rumours:
1) A CNG variant (s) may also exist due to lack of Diesel mill
2) Wireless Chargers, Sun Roofs etc are rumoured to be part of specifications

What's the source of this information?

This is contrary to previous reports that new Brezza would be based on the Heartect platform, so we can safely say goodbye to safety!!!

The word Heartect is used in such a rampantly flippant manner thanks to the marketing guys I guess. There is not 1 platform that is Heartect so to speak off. It is a philosophy of design that powers their platform design with respect to Chassis and general layout. There are multiple platforms that power multiple segments based on the requirements of each segment with respect to cost, weight, space and acceptable collision performance which is again scalable (depending on the market and performance targets). It is not truly modular as is the case for VW.
My information sources are of course confidential but rest assured are authentic. The Brezza is based on an older platform(probably SX4) that powers the once upon a time 5 star NCAP rated S-Cross as well.
